Tenn. Tea Party Wants Slavery Removed From Textbooks?

While Liberals are going to remove God and Christianity from America, what is wrong if some Tea Party members have respect to Founders and a little bit correct their image?

Liberals removing God and Christianity from WHAT? not from America as a whole, surely you don't believe that? we can still go to church, can't we?
or is it your intent to inflict Christianity on the athiests, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, and some others who might not be christian enough for the really big christian churches?

Many helped us win independence from Britain, putting their lives in danger in order for this country to exist. I'd say that qualifies them.

Name ONE black person that signed the Declaration of Independence.

FORCED to work for free on GW's Virginia plantation doesn't really count as supporting a cause...

Them??? Name them. Do they have names?

is there a point in your post?

You have to use that little green arrow after the user name in the quote to link backward.

You'll get the full gist of the conversation I'm having(attempting to) with Mellie.

I doubt she'll post a reply. Anything but "You're right, I was wrong"... would be dishonest at this point.

She kinda disappeared last night after I showed that twice as many blacks fought for the British.

I bet the fact that twice as many blacks fought for the British would get overlooked for fear of smearing the founders image.

I've already answered your question. Calm down. It wasn't just signers of our Declaration of Independence that helped found our country.

Huh? How does the fact that more blacks fought for the British negate the fact that there were black "founders" who helped found this country? I'm a fan of telling the full story, not leaving things out for political reasons.

Well as a populace I think it does indicate the majority saw more value in defending the Crown. That really doesn't look to good for the Founding Fathers IMO. And in regards to this law I think this fact would qualify for scrubbing.

NAME ONE...

Stop ignoring the question...

It won't go away...

Name one. Name a Black signer/contributor to a founding document.

What the hell is wrong with you? The question has been answered. Why don't you consider blacks who fought for us in the Revolution as founders? You think they were all forced, don't you?

Read and learn:

Black Founders

What law? ...

Why do the far-right posters always do this?

Deep into a thread, their positions start to crumble and they get short term memory loss... "What were we talking about anyway..."

Forgive me, please repeat the specific name you game of a black Founding Father.

First name first, if you please.

That is one of the most racist and ignorant articles I've ever read.

The first two so-called 'black-Founders' were both slaves.

Founder. Founding father. Someone who was directly involved in shaping forming our country's FOUNDING / DOCUMENTS and principles.

That does not include those men who were considered property of Founders.

The one the TPers are proposing in the aritcle from the OP.

I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like the tea party wants the whole truth told. They're tired of kids being taught that the Founders were nothing but a bunch of racists. I was taught that the 3/5 Compromise was put in the Constitution because white people didn't think blacks were fully human. Do you understand how twisted that is to teach a child that? It's twisting history for an agenda.

Good Lord. Just forget it. Remain ignorant if you so choose.

That's not what it sounds like to me.

That's not what I was taught. But I'm sure many founders, especially if we are including soldiers as founders, were racist.

Let's see

I can not vote

I only count as 3/5ths

I can be traded like a commodity

I can be beaten

Doesn't sound to human to me

I think the argument that there are black founders just floundered.

I think the argument that there are black founders just floundered.

No, it didn't.

I find it very interesting that some people are refusing to give black people who helped found this country any credit. It's almost as though you think they were all puppets and just "helped" because they had to. It's almost as though you think all black people hated white people back then and vice versa. It's almost as though you think all the white founders were racist. Weird....

A partner conversation to this could be the "Civil Rights Era" which didn't start in the 1960s, but most people think it did.

That's a completely different issue and nothing to do with the why the words all men are created equal were included.

I also want to add you may be having troubles with others concerning the black founding fathers because some see founding fathers as meaning those who wrote the documents and set the ground work for a new country. Being combatants was indeed helpful, but not what everyone would consider a founding father. I don't in any way mean to diminish anyone's contrabution, but blacks here were not equal partners, and certianly not considered equal by and large. And it certainly wasn't what was meant by the statement all men are created equal.

I don't think all the white founders were racists.

I think all the founders were white.

Can you name one founder who was not white?
