‘Burn a Bush’? Michelle Obama invites rapper Common to a poetry reading

From the "for what it is worth" department...

I dont see the big deal. My wife's university hosted him as a guest speaker and she was actually very impressed with him. Me...I dont care about the 'bad' lyrics...I care how bad the lyrics are...holy bat****...

But hey...at least he's a racial separatist...so...

THIS is who we honor???

Common's lyrics are about real people. Not a sheriff, a girl..

The Obama's have every right to have him to the WH. It's all our House, including his.

However, I'd prefer a president who didn't invite people like that.

Screw that. Side with George H.W. Bush. "Cop Killer" still makes sense to target. Don't try to differentiate.

Is it a side-issue? Certainly. I wouldn't spend nearly this much time derailing it.

Wow....more feigned outrage from the right-wing....what else is new?

Can't have that evil man going to the white house. I mean...look at him:

I'm with Stewart on this one. Some conservatives are so desperate to bash this president they'd rather just lie and act offended at lyrics that they wouldn't even blink an eye at if it were a conservative saying.

It's sad and pathetic.

I thought after the Tuscon shooting we were supposed to tone down the rhetoic? A map with crosshairs over a district is out, but lyrics about guns and cop killing is in?

Sheeeit, If i were President I'd invite 2pac to my house, I don't give a ****. It be nice to get him to come out of hiding from wherever he's making his posthumous albums.

Politicians and musicians are two different entities. It is isn't appropriate for a politician to whine about his love life to the public like most musicians do either.

can you show me the lyrics about cop killing from common?

Hell, I would be inviting metal bands, including Body Count so they could perform Cop Killer at the White House. That would be minor with the satanic death metal bands playing though.

Heck...Ive said it all along...I have a real problem with the number of golf rounds he has got in. Me...it'd be double...no...triple what has.

It's GOOD to be the king.

Here is this "evil" rapper at the White House. Listen and feel it people:cool:

I don't understand why this is a big deal. Rockstars and rappers have been making anti-authoritarian music ever since there were rockstars and rappers. They grow older and sometimes become politically and socially active. They then interface with political and social leaders. Ho-hum.

Didnt Bush honor Cash at an event like this?
Cash sung about cocaine, and killing women and what not..

Typical of Liberals to not be able to tell the deference between reality and fantasy. All of these are fantasy. This Common low life makes up bad poetry about a woman who is a convicted cop killer, about Burning President Bush, etc.

A couple the posts are disappointing because I was starting to think a couple of you could think.

I'm sorry but rap was invented because these scum bags can't use proper English and they all use poor language and insult people mostly women.

Michelle Obama is the most wasteful women ever in the White House, she and Barack are acting like people who were on welfare and just hit the lotto.

How many people think Clapton shot a sheriff?

How many think Bob Marley shot the sheriff? RIP Bob Marley! Yesteday marked the 30 years he been passed:(

Easy E talked about shooting cops: F The Police one my fav songs. lol.. Was the right so upset when RR invited him to the White House? It is so damn hypocrital and seems only Mellie would answer my question.

It's idiotic to put it mildly, but it seems Michelle is doing her part to secure their base for 2012.

Change you can believe in.

.

There are some better songs!

this was summed up perfectly in another thread
