Rosie O’Donnell: Without Due Process For Bin Laden, We May Be ‘Monsters’

I don't know if you are brainwashed or not, but the contradiction in your first line there is quite telling.

There is no contradiction... they use the first amendment to put this country down and burn the American flag. Get it???

You will of course have to show how these things actually harm the country.

I NEVER said that "these things actually harm the country". Are you alright???

If one is not doing things that harm or attempt to America, then they cannot be anti-american.

Why do we even care what celebrities think? Are they supposed to be some kind of intelligent force in our country? It's truly sad... Rosie is a moron.

Yeah, the woman is a fool, but only a fool, we should call her what she actually and stop confusing terminology.

We'll if we are going to call her what she actually is....

With her strap-on equipped I'm sure she could pass as a stud for breeding livestock

throwing around terms like "anti-american" simply because she voiced her opinion is well, anti-american. you don't have to agree, and you can say so, and why, but she has every right to that opinion.

She has a right to her opinion, no one denies that. But opinions can be anti-American. If I said, "American is an evil oppressive empire that should be cast on the ash heap of history", that might be my opinion, but it's pretty clear that it's also strongly anti-American. As for Rosie's opinion, it's certainly stupid and I think a trial would run counter to US interests, so you could say it was anti-American though I wouldn't go that far. I think her opinion is born more out of ignorance and naivete. It seems to me Rosie is one of those self loathing Americans you sometimes see on the far left. Nothing America does is right or good in their eyes.

This is where things can go into a gray area though. Rosie may feel she is acting in American interests (even though I would disagree with her) with her statement and in upholding principals that she feels this country stands for (such as an ideal of due process). According to that perspective, she is pro-american.

We should be careful to make such statements, unless the intentions are clear.

I agree. As I said, I wouldn't personally call her statements anti-American, but I can see how someone else would. She probably does believe her statements are not anti-American and are about upholding our ideals and principles. But as I said, I think that displays her ignorance of how the real world works. Bin Laden's trial would've given him one last international stage to spout his vile rhetoric. And it would've served no purpose. His guilt is certain and the outcome equally certain. We don't owe our enemies the same rights and due process we guarantee our citizens.
