Obama only paid a 26% income tax rate for 2010

every federal gun control law passed in the USA was sponsored by dems and signed into law by a dem president except the Hughes amendment which was a poison pill that dem gun hater Rep. Hughes attached (in violation of house rules) to the Mclure-Volker firearms owner protection act. RWR signed the bill into law thinking that the pro gun provisions were important and that the courts would strike down the clearly unconstitutional ban on the registration of machine guns made after May 19, 1986.

Oh my, my! How reality escapes you. The biggest gun law ever written, the Brady Bill, came from a hard rock wounded con and was endorsed by Reagan & pass by Bob Dole. Nixon said guns were an abomination. Bush Sr. banned the assault weapon. His son approved banning guns from many Americans and supported registration. The bottom line is, you would be a hypocrite to make such ridiculous charges about Liberals.

Lets make it simple, American cars suck.

and American jobs? I have never had a car that was a lemon, and they were all American brands. Been driving and owning since 1966. Closest car to being a lemon is our 2000 Impala, 75K miles, and I have paid about $900 to $1000 in repairs....power window motor, heater core, ignition switch.....basically it has been reliable for 11 years, I will keep it for another 9 years at least. American cars may not compare favorably to foreign cars, but that is because the standard is all about luxury, gadgets, electronics, etc. If all you need a car to do is get you there and back comfortably and safely, American cars will suffice.

Obama is the one who said he doesn't pay enough in taxes. Why didn't he just go ahead and pay extra, or at least skip the deductions he was allowed?
Same with other asswipe million/billionairs who say they are for higher taxes. If they are serious, they should write a big fat check to the IRS. Otherwise, it's just politics as usual.

As I said before.... They want to raise taxes to raise revenue and pay down the debt, Obama and a few other people wouldn't be enough to accomplish that. It would be waste of their energy and financial resources.

Bush One vetoed the brady bill

tell me who passed it?

and who banned assault weapons-Bush merely banned the import-those made in America were only banned by clinton

try again, you failed totally on this point

I would bet that most political office holders are christians of convenience.....their church attendance is only high during an election cycle....

I'd definitely agree with that too.. I personally don't trust politicians whom proclaim their religion while seeking office. The bible says such behaviour won't be awarded in the afterlife, because such people already received their reward here on earth.

wrong here is what they want to do

1) spend more money to keep buying the votes of those who are dependent on government handouts

2) raise taxes on the rich and on the rich alone to

a) appeal to class envy

b) pretend that raising taxes on the rich while spending more and more to buy votes won't increase the deficit

if dems really wanted to get rid of the deficit they would curtail the massive spending which cannot be decreased by raising taxes on the rich-even to the point of 100%

they would also make the other classes pay more not only to raise tax revenues but to deter those classes from demanding more and more spending

dems win elections by spending money taken from the rich on handouts for the many

Giving more what?

I have a hunch most cons buy and drive non-GM products. If thats the case, it confirms they like getting screwed over in politics and transportation.

Money to charities.
What's GM got to do with it? Are they a charity? :)
I drive a Ford, and always have. Probably always will.
I was also real proud of them for making it without a bailout.
Don't know what this has to do with generosity though.

that is really silly

Carlin thought so as well.......................

"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time...But He loves you. " George Carlin

I am agnostic-you are batting zero so far

Really? I don't think you understand the game, because I don't support a silly god either-home run!

And you believe the money would go to paying down the debt?

What does giving money to charities prove?

The issue is not about being rich or poor, its about having the intake in society to be able to practice the responsibility of voting wisely. Understanding the importance of what decisions mean to the people that are paying for services and that people that don't is important in understanding why people vote the way they do. When people vote that with only benefits in mind like most poor people do simply because they aren't paying for the benefits they won't most likely vote in a way that benefits the country as a whole.

That's the truth. People think I'm an idiot for voting against my own best interests, so I know it's not that common.
Those freebies dangling like carrots can look tempting, but at this rate they won't last. People will be out in the streets rioting for things that they never earned in the first place. Look at Greece. People didn't know how to live without handouts. That's where we are headed with all the dependents we are spawning.

and American jobs?

As a consumer I don't care about this. All I care about is getting the most for my money. American cars are overpriced, and lack the quality to warrant the price.

That is however part of the package.

No, the engineering in foreign cars is better.

If all you need a car to do is get you there and back comfortably and safely, American cars will suffice.

So will Volkswagen cars and they are hardly about luxury. You can't even get leather seats anymore in them for example. D:

Here is the thing.

Conservatives are complaining about Obama not paying more taxes. And you guys also complain about people taking a handout, as if none of you have ever done it.

I highly doubt any of you have ever refused to take federal grant money for education, refused to take federal or state tax refunds from the government, refused to claim the earned income credit, making work pay credit, retirement savings credit, or the child tax credit when you qualified, insisted on paying the government for services like requesting a copy of SS card despite nobody has to, driving strictly on toll roads whenever you can, or refusing public education for your children despite how you all love to bitch on and on about how awful the public education system is....

You're calling Obama a hypocrite, but by the very same standards all of you are probably hypocrites yourselves...

Obama is a hypocrite because he got on National television and said he, personally could afford to pay more taxes.
So why didn't he? Why did he instead take every deduction or loophole available to him to keep from paying more?

Bush One vetoed the brady bill

tell me who passed it?

Bush didn't veto Brady Bill, he let it set on his desk to hand Clinton. Good question though. Why didn't Bush veto it?

and who banned assault weapons-Bush merely banned the import-those made in America were only banned by clinton

A complete win, because I proved my point that looney righties are just as guilty of gun control as lefties.. A WIN. And with 6 years of dictatorial control, the right and NRA did not restore the 2nd Amendment by recinding all gun laws. Just shows how republicans fear guns in American hands. Another Winning point!

Oh well, cons want a lot a dependents in their corporate wars, even pay bonuses and give other incentives to keep a lot of cannon fodder.

you are babbling nonsense.

He wanted a new basket ball? He wanted to pay the same amount of taxes as Chevron & Shell put together?

generosity to who?

Charities.

Oh well, I see Obama's giving is way up this year. 14% wooowhooo. Good job!

anyway, I found this interesting article. I don't agree with a lot of it about how taxes must be raised. However, he was dead on about why Obama should have taken the opportunity to lead on his own tax return.

Gregg Easterbrook | Analysis & Opinion | Reuters.com

Though tax increases alone cannot put the country’s fiscal house in order, the president should set a better example on his own tax returns.
That $245,000 the Obamas gave to charity, for example — deducting it on their Schedule A reduced their federal tax bill by roughly $85,000, and cut their Illinois state tax bill too. But you’re not required to deduct charitable giving, or to claim any tax favor. Deductions and tax credits are options. If you think the government deserves more of your income, don’t claim them.
Obama said last year that itemized deductions for the wealthy should be phased out — then on his own tax return, claimed a huge itemized deduction. Until those who advocate higher taxes for the well-off practice what they preach, the national debt situation may only get worse.
