Libya-Civilian deaths-Russia

Pravda is basically a tabloid. Also, foreign news gets lots of stories we don't get domestically. A dozen dead civilians in Libya doesnt make news here nor is it outlandish to assume it's probably happened.

Why would foreign news get more stories than the USA. Isn't our press thorough and unbiased and complete?

Why does the Russian news state that NATO is killing civilians? If it were true, wouldn't the objective press be reporting it?

Libya: NATO massacres civilians - English pravda.ru

I wouldn't be surprised if a small number of civilians are being killed inadvertantly, but as tragic as that is, it is no massacre. Of course, the thugs in Moscow have no more love of the truth as thugs in Beijing or other non-democratic states around the world.

Libyan civilian deaths have been reported in the Western press, including the death of these 40 civilians. It hardly approaches the level of "massacre," however.

Hardly. But is Pravda? Read SE102's post.

I gotcha, so how many does it take to be a "massacre?"
Also, is the number the same when both women and children die, and are they less dead if the rebels accidentally kill them? Does it make sense that a civil war will kill civilians?

It makes sense that in any war there will be civilian casualties. The best we can do is to try to minimize them. My definition of "massacre" would be an intentional mass killing, which this was not.

The Soviet Union had 2 newpapers: Izvestia (which means news), and Pravda (which means truth). The joke was "There's no izvestia in Pravda, and there's no pravda in Izvestia!"

Pravda was the organ of the Communist Party. The fact that they're coming with the anti-American spin is about as surprising as when Sean Hannity attacks Obama.

Probably won't get the full collateral count, or even number of displaced refugees, from Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan either.

Egypt: Mummy's curse strikes again - English pravda.ru
Their mistake? Tearing the heads off two mummies and kicking them around like footballs. Terrence Aym quotes the Museum security guard al-Hamad Genadry, who told the Cairo press that "when he discovered the two goons they were jabbering and drooling-talking in gibberish to the two severed mummy heads".

"They rolled about on the floor thrashing like curs. It was truly quite a remarkable sight," the 52-year-old museum guard said.

Third World War to begin during Winter Games in 2014 - English pravda.ru
On March 24, well-known Russian astrologists, shamans and parapsychologists gathered to discuss forecasts for near and distant future.

"The phenomenon that they call the world financial crisis, and which, as they believe, is now ending, was not the financial crisis per se. It was just an omen of the imminent crisis. The real financial crisis is going to take place in the future," astrologist Aleksei Kolov said in the beginning of the meeting.

The most impressive astrological forecast was made by Pavel Globa: "Many attack me now claiming that I was promising Russia a quiet year. What kind of quiet year is it if earthquakes rattle Japan. But Japan is not Russia. There will be wars in the world this year, but everything will be fine in our country, except for the summer. The summer is going to be tough: there will be three eclipses in a row in June-July. This year, there will be six eclipses in total. We had such a catastrophic year as this one 20 years ago, when the Soviet Union collapsed," the astrologist said.

That's a good point. If you don't drop bombs or send missiles, no deaths! How could bombing be anything but malevolent. However, by definition this mayhem would be an intentional mass killing. Bombs and rockets are for killing and maiming people. This isn't sport. It isn't killing with surgical precision. Bottom line is that if you "might" kill civilians, don't do it. If you are claiming you are preventing civilian deaths by your adversary, you occupy the throne of maximum hypocrisy.

It's a ****ING WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell do people expect, a tea party with white gloves?

So, you would prefer to see Ghaddafy free to intentionally massacre thousands or perhaps even tens of thousands of people?

I get a kick out of the liberal side who whines about so-called collective punishment when it relates to Israel and the people in Gaza but when the UN authorizes the prevention of an Arab dictator from carrying out collective punishment against the people of Benghazi and other cities, they whine about a small number of accidental deaths from the bombing.

Yes, those deaths are lementable, but acceptable considering the alternative...

As the leader of the country, it is Qaddaffi's job to quell insurrection, treason, incited riots as a public service and necessity. Libya has OIL and if you think this is an issue of morality and an evil dictator, you have swallowed the pablum that the Mass Manipulating Media has sold you and think you are in touch with truth. The truth is that big money scumbags want to get control of the OIL from a lesser scumbag. The CIA incited the riots, not the Libyan people. Wake up! The USA has a $700 billion defense, offense military budget because wars make big money for big money. Any war. That's why they are popular.
