Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox News

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

Media Matters will fail and go up in smoke just like everyone else that has tried to take on fox.
I have to laugh honestly, the liberal left dominates the media and has most of the outlets and Foxnews beats them all month after month after month and they all whine month after month. How many of them have already declared war on fox and lost...somehow I dont see Murdoch and company doing anything but laughing when they read this

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

My question was a little over the top and I didn't mean for it to be taken completely seriously. I shouldn't have asked it.

I think this little MM/Fox News war is just moronic.

Good, credit to Mellie she wasn't serious about the war thing.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

Hmmmm....It's actually more than that.

From that perspective, I can certainly support this 1-on-1 battle of the partisan news entities. Essentially, what MM is saying is FoxNews has supported the GOP for so long and few media outlets have called them out on being the :spin: machine they are for the Republican party. Of course, there's sure to be a liberal slant to their news reporting just as their clearly is a conservative slant to FoxNews, but as long as what MM reportS is true and accurate, I don't have a problem with it.

Few have called them out on it? It's on the tongues of every American liberal or Democrat, and is thus fully on the media's consciousness. The official stance of the Democratic Party not long ago was to boycott them.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

It seems interesting to me that nobody ever seems to be able to point to specific incidents of Fox News lying. They do seem very willing to apologize when wrong. Just tell me what they lied about.

Attack on the free press? I dont consider Fox News part of the free press. To be a free press, the for one should not have a political agenda that they constantly push openly while claiming the opposite. Fox News is the mouth piece of the GOP pure and simple.

Attack on freedom of speech? Well sadly in the US "freedom of speech" also means freedom of responsibility for spreading lies and miss-information. It use to be that media out-lets that were considered serious, were called on their lax reporting. Now days, Fox News gets away with pretty much anything.. may it be the anti-education attacks their anchors make or the out right crazy conspiracy crap they pull. Nancy Grace not believing Fox News own weather man that the radiation coming from Japan was minimal on the west coast of the US.... really takes the top spot for me at the moment.. what an idiot of a woman. But sadly it is not the only example of their anchors with college degrees playing people with no high school education.

Sorry but Fox News dug this hole they are in, and the fact that Media Matters has the balls to call them (and other media outlets too) on their miss-information, lies and propaganda should be applauded rather than scowled on. Someone has to keep the media in check, especially the serial liars and propaganda stations.

You are late, Mellie already changed the premise. Try keeping up.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

It is now possible that Media Matters is breaking the law. They are listed with the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) organization. As such, they are tax exempt as long as they don't participate in any partisan political activities. As soon as Brock pronounced that FoxNews was an arm of the Republican Party and they were going to do everything possible to close them down, MM became a political entity.

MM might have cooked their own goose. Wouldn't that be some delicious irony ??

My personal favorite: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...y-says-no-one-fox-raised-issue-jail-time-not/

There are plenty of compilations of almost every person on Fox talking about jail time for not following the law out there.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

It's not a war on free press and free speech -- so long as they're not making stuff up.

Yes it is. They want to shut down FOX because they don't like what they say. Liberals are turning into Hugo Chavez.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

Yes, I support it. The "news" on Fox is a lot too creative.

So you would be for shutting down MSNBC too?

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

And this is different from anything MM has done in the past how?

They are bringing in more troops and and narrowing their focus. Soros is pissed at how little the progress has been so far. FOX just keeps getting stronger.

Criticizing isn't the same as shutting down. How do you fall for this same crap every day, so consistently?

o_O Huh? Why is it that every liberal organization is somehow linked to George Soros?

Mind getting out a chalkboard and explaing that to me?

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

I see it more as two entities both exercising their free speech, going at it with each other.

Oh, are conservatives trying to shut down liberals?
Liberals can't bring all over to their side by persuasion so they choose to use their right to free speech to silence the other side. Typical liberalism. They are anything but tolerant. They are oppressors.

You have any proof of that besides The Blaze?

Whoa! That's going to bit too far there buddy. I am all for jostling around, but saying someone has certain diseases in what not just ain't cool with me.

Re: Media Matters to launch campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox

I guess "going at it with each other" wasn't the right expression. My point is, MM is exercising their right to free speech the same way anyone else does, so I don't see it as a "war on free speech," unless MM is actively lobbying or pursuing legislation to regulate Fox or take it off the air.

It's not like the left hasn't suggested the idea.

Jonathan Zasloff, a law professor at UCLA, suggested that the federal government simply yank Fox off the air. "I hate to open this can of worms," he wrote, "but is there any reason why the FCC couldn't simply pull their broadcasting permit once it expires?"Liberals on 'Journolist' Wanted Government to Shut Down Fox News
But while Zasloff did make those comments, it's fair to also point out that they did not go unchallenged:
And so a debate ensued. Time's (Michael) Scherer, who had seemed to express support for increased regulation of Fox, suddenly appeared to have qualms: "Do you really want the political parties/white house picking which media operations are news operations and which are a less respectable hybrid of news and political advocacy?"

Guess what? That's one person.

Please tell me, how the hell does one person suddenly represent all liberals?

barb: zasloff is NOT "the left".

Are conservatives trying to "shut down" liberals? You serious? ACORN? You telling me that wasn't shut down because of it's campaign to get people voting for Obama? Have you even begun to read the attacks against NPR? That's quite a hilarious statement you made there.

The day conservatives aren't attacking liberals is the day that conservatism or liberalism dies.

*Edit to add:

And the fact that you associate Fox News with conservatism is also sad. Why would you want to associate with such an unethical entity?

*Edited to add again:

Also, your link says "law professor", not liberal. Someone thinks the obvious, that Fox News is misleading, useless garbage that airs programs that are labeled as "news" is misleading and that makes him liberal? My guess is he has a brain... if that makes him liberal we'll take him.

Then MSNBC is the arm of the Democratic Party and Unions. Have you been watching since the protests in Wis started? I bet you can't find one person all this time who has been Pro-Walker on MSNBC.

LOL, it was journolist. You had to be a liberal to be a member.
ACORN and NPR are about federal funding, not about silencing someone. Conservatives don't try to shut people up just because they don't like what's being said. Liberals don't want any competition. They want to peddle their propaganda unchallenged.
