The NY Times reported that Fox News is considering dropping Glenn Beck - it is now racing around Twitter and the Internet, but there are those who think not?

So, is Fox News getting rid of Beck? It might improve their credibility.

Sorry NYT, But This Fox News Is Trying To Get Rid Of Glenn Beck Because Of Ratings Story Doesn't Sound Entirely Believable

Here is the short version: Glenn Beck's contract with Fox is up at the end of the year and they may be looking to part ways with him because of his declining ratings.

I forgot I had even started this thread, but apparently now it is true, FOX News is canning Glenn Beck. I say good riddance, it appears that Fox News just increased their IQ by getting rid of Glenn Beck. I hope we are not going to see this:

Boehner and Beck should get together and do a crying-duo routine!

you really have to be out of touch with reality and all reported facts in this case, to think FOX canned him. Oh... wait... look who I'm talking to. Never mind.

No, he'll still be doing specials and documentaries for Fox. From Texas, I hope. Where have you been? There are several threads on this. Catch up Tex. Aren't you excited about this? :)

:sigh:

/facepalm

I'm finally listening to the last hour of the radio show. He cannot say too much because many business partners are involved, but he said he's going to get into pretty much every genre including film.....

:shock::shock: Please don't say porn. :vomit:

please show me a statement from FOX saying he was fired. without it, anything you say along those lines is speculation at best.

Oh, maybe the word "fired" is too harsh for his faithful followers - maybe they just thought he was too loony for their best interests and are just not renewing his contract. There, is that much better?

Yesterday’s announcement came just one month after anonymous Fox officials had leaked their plan to get rid of Beck to New York Times media columnist David Carr, who wrote that Beck’s future was in jeopardy in part because he had lost a million viewers since the peak of his show’s ratings.

Carr explained, “The problem with ‘Glenn Beck’ is that it has turned into a serial doomsday machine that’s a bummer to watch.” Then Carr quoted David von Drehle, who had written a pathetically soft profile of Beck for the cover of Time magazine. “He used to be a lot funnier,” Von Drehle said.

This, mind you, is the broadcaster who managed at least 202 mentions of Nazis or Nazism, 147 mentions of Hitler, 193 mentions of fascism or fascist, “and another 24 bonus mentions of Joseph Goebbels,” according to Dana Milbank. “Most of these were directed in some form at Obama -- as were the majority of the 802 mentions of socialist or socialism on Beck's nightly ‘report.’

He won't be his whacky self at 5:00 with his conspiracies and his blackboard idiocies for the FOX News viewers - Fox News is going to keep him occupied where no one will be exposed to his whacko conspiracies and doomsday fantasies! I don't think Fox wants any more advertisers dropping off.

Excited? He can join that other loony toons "Perry" - that ought to really lower Texas' standing even more!

Glenn will be around a long time

Why Fox Is Saying Goodbye to Glenn Beck

“Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody’s standards," Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said. “I look forward to continuing to work with him.

Beck’s rise to media stardom followed a meteoric path since he joined Fox News in October 2008 just weeks before Barack Obama captured the presidency. With his black-rimmed glasses and chalkboard, at times he seemed like the living personification of Howard Beale, the fictional character in the 1976 film "Network," who persuaded Americans to stand up en masse and yell, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

Too bad about Beck. He's on to something but his ego got out of hand. Funny how no one disputes his facts. Some of you may know that part of his schtick was a red telephone open 24/7 for a call from the White House with a constant invitation for them to dispute his facts. Never called.

His research is phenomenal but very difficult to access since one has to wade through his ego to find it. Intolerable. Sad.
