Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, will argue in a major address Friday evening that the nation should “strengthen” — not “starve” — the world body.

The address is the first in a series of speeches — to continue this spring — making the case to the American people for why the U.N. matters to national security, and detailing how it is being improved. The ambassador will be speaking to the World Affairs Council of Oregon in Portland.

The country can ill afford to surrender money or sovereignty to the dysfunctional, corrupt and frankly useless UN. Of course, Obama loves the idea.

It doesn't matter what Susan Rice wants. I have read that UN funding is going to be targeted by the House of Representatives.

AMEN brother...

Two things I would immediately run on if I were running. Out of the UN, or at least de-fund it, and other useless foreign aid, and promise to bring back American manufacturing.. America is open for business.

I win.. :)

My platform would be RADICAL crazy ;)

1. Americans For Fair Taxation: Americans For Fair Taxation Would replace the IRS, repeal of the 16th Amendment.

2. Reduce UN funding by 50% and 5% each year until the UN cleans up it's financial mess. I.E. the fraud, waste and abuse. After that, each year the UN Funding would have to be voted on by the House and Senate, full disclosure on what's being spent and for what programs. Full open books from the UN tracking every penny. Failure to achieve this in 5 years would result in the USA withdrawing from the UN and revoking the UN's right to exist in the USA.

3. Disband, and remake the EPA over a 4 year period, with the goal of building a smaller, leaner, less over reaching agency with a very strict and limited mission.

4. Abolish the Department of Education.

5. End of the Estate Tax.

6. End of all "charity" aide to foreign countries. Creation of a Government Agency whose sole mission is to assist Volunteer Charities get money and resources to Foreign Countries. It's not the Governments job to give tax payer monies to other countries for photo ops. Might feel good, might help people, but it's not right.

7. Restructuring of the DOD Procurement process to hold down costs and improve development to field times.

8. End Affirmative Action. It's wrong for the Government to give resources to those of one skin color and deny it to those of another.

9. English Only as the Official Federal Language*. *Exception being where impractical, such as Immigration and travel documents.

10. End of the "Anchor Baby".

11. Enforcing Immigration Laws, cities that play the "Sanctuary City" game will be denied Federal Funding.

12. Repeal of the 17th Amendment.

13. No bail outs, for anything.

That's the Big 13 I would focus on.

DanaRhea kicks off his UN Series......

Let's get out of the UN, and get the UN out of New York.

DanaRhea has just ended his UN Series.

Obama can't form his dictatorship without heavy support from the UN and the UN is going to be much stronger than it is now to accomplish that mission.

And here I was thinking these silly little this President is going to turn the U.S. into a dictatorship was going to end when President Bush left office.

The only point on which I might disagree with Mr. V is on the question of affirmative action. I might be persuaded to continue affirmative action if it were limited exclusively to impoverished African American youths. No one else. Then put a twenty year limit on it so that it concludes within one generation from now.

How about make the support tied to economic disadvantage and quit worrying about their skin color?

it should be replaced by an organization of democracies that recognize the importance of human rights, mutual cooperation, and national sovereignty...

Totally agree with this.

Agree with this. The UN does need to be more transparant. Some of its specialized agencies actually do excellent work, but still the lack of transparancy is an issue that needs to be addressed in any roundof UN reform. I would still like to see a smaller organization of human rights respecting democracies...

3. Disband, and remake the EPA over a 4 year period, with the goal of building a smaller, leaner, less over reaching agency with a very strict and limited mission.

I am not sure I would go that far. The EPA DOES have an important role in protecting the environment. However, having said that, some of their proposals are crazy...

4. Abolish the Department of Education.

Agreed. Education is a state and local responsibility, not federal...

5. End of the Estate Tax.

Agreed... on assets based on already taxed income. I would make an exception for monies paid into tax deferred funds such as a Roth IRA...

I would end all aid to non-democratic regimes and would only offer aid to democratic, transparant nations on an as-needed basis providing that the country in question does not act against U.S. interests as determined by the Congress...

7. Restructuring of the DOD Procurement process to hold down costs and improve development to field times.

I would also cut down the administration and focus on the core mission of the DoD; DEFENSE...

8. End Affirmative Action. It's wrong for the Government to give resources to those of one skin color and deny it to those of another.

AMEN!!! The children of Bill Cosby are certainly more privileged than I ever was...

9. English Only as the Official Federal Language*. *Exception being where impractical, such as Immigration and travel documents.

Also would make exceptions for areas with indigenous languages like Hawaii and Alaska...

10. End of the "Anchor Baby".

But through the proper process to Amend the U.S. Constitution...

11. Enforcing Immigration Laws, cities that play the "Sanctuary City" game will be denied Federal Funding.

Exactly... Actually, there would be nothing to stop the feds from going into "Sanctuary Cities" and rounding up illegals... Of course, President Obama won't do that...

12. Repeal of the 17th Amendment.

Not sure about this one, but of course, would have a tough road.

13. No bail outs, for anything.

Not sure I can agree with this one either. We do have economic issue, but the bail outs DID save a lot of American jobs. And remember the bailouts the airlines received after 9/11? Those were necessary for a crisis that adversely affected the airlines out of their control. So, "for anything"? No. But only in extreme circumstances out of the control of the businesses themselves... I would also consider industries adversely affected by the unfair trade policies of states like China and others who unfairly and even illegally manipulate the international trading/economic system.

These comments notwithstanding, this is better than any other major candidate out there... May I work on your campaign?

Totally agree with this.
Me TOO!

that would be the next step if the UN can't straighten up, I'm betting they cannot.

I am not sure I would go that far. The EPA DOES have an important role in protecting the environment. However, having said that, some of their proposals are crazy...
The goal is a NEW EPA that won't stray into stupid while still keeping things clean.

Agreed. Education is a state and local responsibility, not federal...
Exactly.

Agreed... on assets based on already taxed income. I would make an exception for monies paid into tax deferred funds such as a Roth IRA...
Well, those naturally have not been taxed and would be subject too. Of course, if we go to a Fair Tax system, issue resolved.

I would end all aid to non-democratic regimes and would only offer aid to democratic, transparant nations on an as-needed basis providing that the country in question does not act against U.S. interests as determined by the Congress...
I was more aiming at "charity" stuff, like the Bush Aids imitative. While I UNDERSTAND the need to help, it's not the Gov'ts place to spend our money like that.

I would also cut down the administration and focus on the core mission of the DoD; DEFENSE...
Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

AMEN!!! The children of Bill Cosby are certainly more privileged than I ever was...
The time for race to matter ended, someone needs to tell the left this.

Also would make exceptions for areas with indigenous languages like Hawaii and Alaska...
I'd say for FEDERAL forms, no, English only, however I wouldn't force the local populations/States to adopt this.

But through the proper process to Amend the U.S. Constitution...
But of course.

Exactly... Actually, there would be nothing to stop the feds from going into "Sanctuary Cities" and rounding up illegals... Of course, President Obama won't do that...
Of course he won't. The dems see another minority to enslave.

Not sure about this one, but of course, would have a tough road.
Tough until you explain the history of the 17th and point out it's stated goals failed miserably.

Not sure I can agree with this one either. We do have economic issue, but the bail outs DID save a lot of American jobs. And remember the bailouts the airlines received after 9/11? Companies that believe they can be bailed out are less likely to be... careful. Is it a bailout if you are saving a company from a foreign countries misbehavior?
These comments notwithstanding, this is better than any other major candidate out there... May I work on your campaign?
Hehe, if I ever thought I could be elected to anything more then dog catcher, I'll call you ;)
