The Ohio Democratic representative is suing House cafeteria service providers for $150,000 for allegedly selling him a sandwich wrap with a stray olive pit in it.

He said he is entitled to recover damages, "including but not limited to past and future dental and medical expenses, compensation for pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment and other damage."

The suit claims the sandwich wrap in question was purchased "on or about April 17, 2008."

I wonder why it took him till now to file since the incident took place in April 2008. Since he has medical insurance, if he wins will he pay back the insurance company for what they paid out. Without the details of the injury other than the law suit statement, I think 150K is a bit much. The loss of "enjoyment" must have been not being able to bs in Congressional meetings.:)

It's Kucinich. Need I say more?

And...he couldn't just take the olive out? C'mon man up Dennis it's not like it was a mouse turd or anything! Why are Democrats such ******s sheesh....

Kucinich is a ****ing dumbass. He gives Libbos a worser name than they already have.

Maybe he's not being greedy. It's possible... when he bit down, the olive pit destroyed the chip which was a communicator to his home planet. I understand most insurance companies won't cover that.

Gawker dug up an old CSPAN video from five days after the incident in which Kucinich addresses the House floor but does not appear to exhibit any outward signs that he has recently experienced "serious and permanent dental and oral injuries."

Last month, the staunchly liberal seven-term congressman e-mailed supporters to speculate that the GOP-controlled state legislature may eliminate his Cleveland-area district under redistricting. Ohio is losing two congressional seats in the wake of the 2010 census.

Dennis Kucinich Sues Congressional Cafeteria Over Olive Pit

The plot thickens. Could it be he is trying to cash in just in case his district is eliminated?

$150,000 for an olive pit? I hope the judge gives him something to cry about.

Freaking ridiculous. If he was so incensed about his dental bills, he should have filed a small claims case years ago. To make matters worse, this happened at the U.S. Congressional cafeteria. So basically, he's suing the taxpayers since we're the ones who will have to pay the $150,000 this idiot is asking for.

I'm not so sure that the amount he's requesting is that unreasonable if he truly had serious dental problems as a result. If it's true that he required "multiple surgical and dental procedures" as he claims, the bill could have easily been in the tens of thousands of dollars. And the standard compensation for pain and suffering is generally 2-3 times the actual damages.

The article says he's suing the service providers. Presumably they hire private contractors for the cafeteria.

I distinctly remember Palin telling olives to go and attack people, this is clearly a result of violent rhetoric.

If this law suit is true and it appears to be, I have lost all respect for Kucinich. It's a shame too as I used to admire his spunk and the fact that he had the balls to vote against the Iraqi invasion unlike those other weasel congress critters.
