Keith Olbermann announces tonight's Countdown as his last show!

Ok... so it's not that his rights have been stripped... now we're switching tacs to 'the new owners fired him'. got it.

What switch? Now its you who is making it up as you go along.

I mentioned the merger and corporatism on page one of this thread.

KO has $15 million due to him on the balance of his contract. He could buy and sell most folks here and still enjoy a great life style. And he does not have to lie about his wealth the way some do.

So you actually "LIKE" rich people then? Crush them with his wealth, seems to be your narrative? Am I wrong? :)

Tim-

You do know that Rush doesn't even have a TV show, don't you?

Give him one. Please. Give him one... for the sake of the American people.
Beck 2 hours.
Hannity 2 hours.
Limbaugh 2 hours.
O'Rielly 2 hours.

then play it twice more filling up the entire day.
Do that seven days a week all holidays included.

I am sure the wet dream of every right winger just was achieved. Dissent just took it on the chin as now right wing talk can have even more of the air in the USA with less to worry about from anyone who sees things differently. I wonder if the corporate merger had anything to do with this?

nah a wet dream would be that moron getting caught in bed with Ann coulter or a boy.

I will agree with you that Fox has liberals, but I do not agree that it equals balance. The liberals that are on Fox are the Alan Colmes type. Weak and submissive, which makes the conservative hosts like Hannity look better and therefore have an air of authority in their show. And I will again agree with the fact that you probably won't see as many Republicans on MSNBC as liberals on Fox, but again I don't agree that it equals balance.

Bob Beckel, Kristin Powers, Juan Williams, The Rev Al Sharpton, off the top of my head - Mara Lliason - not exactly shrinking violets. Colmes was every bit as annoying to my con tastes as any of the others mentioned, be he wasn't rude generally, (and I often thought Hannity appeared to be so to him and I didn't like it) but I think libs took a disliking to him simply because he worked at Fox.

"Weak and submissive?" Let's think about that. Many libs have said they will not - WILL NOT - appear on Fox. Not exactly a bold and powerful stance. If libs appear that way to you, maybe it's not so much their personalities as their arguments, heard side by side with cons.

If you care to reply, I'm interested in hearing what would give Fox balance in your view. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't be surprised if KO gets an invite soon to appear on FNC. In fact, I expect it. How would that be for irony, if not for balance?

Yes, many of us are laughing, but I would venture most of us on the right want Olbermann on the air.

We believe idiots have the right to air their views too, and Olbermann the ueber idiot, was great at voicing the party line for he defines the journOlistic crowd, and those they propagandize for. That was his greatest value.

Dissent just took it on the chin as now right wing talk can have even more of the air in the USA with less to worry about from anyone who sees things differently.
Well, let's see... the leftists still run most of the failing daily rags, they have the Old Media networks, they are on cable, and Olbermann's spot will be filled by another dimwit.

You cannot have a monopoly any longer, them's days is gone... so get used to the right having a few voices at FOXNEWS and on the radio.

I wonder if the corporate merger had anything to do with this?
I'm sure this will be answered in due course.

Nah Your Star is actually rather fair minded. And just because some one is a liberal doesn't mean they like Olbermann. Some people just see pundits for what they are.

True that... but then again, there are some leftists on here that believe just because you are a Conservative (like myself) that means you love Sarah Palin (which I most certainly do not) and are a birther (which couldn't be further from the truth)...

I know, I love hockey :(. But you can't fault them since most people right now care about football/basketball. Plus they did have about four or five reports on hockey today. Granted most of them involved fights...

What happened to hockey on ESPN? There used to be a ton of hockey games on ESPN -- both NHL and college... what happebed?

There's an obvious and glaring omission from this thread ... it's a none too subtle message to Olbermann.

My comment is that finally, the little prima donna at MSNBC has a final temper tantrum and quits. Not too surprising - it'll happen again at MSNBC if Comcast keeps their current roster of commentator/entertainers.

Lastly - does anyone know the significance of Olbermann reading the short story "The Scotty who knew too much" as the last 3 minutes of his broadcast? Is the skunk "Fox News", is the porcupine "his conservative enemies" and is the farm dog "MSNBC management" and is he claiming high ground by stating he was, all along, "asking questions" and now plays the "martyr"? Here's Thurbers story:
The Scotty Who Knew Too Much
James THurber

Several summers ago there was a Scotty who went to the country for a visit. He decided that all the farm dogs were cowards, because they were afraid of a certain animal that had a white stripe down its back. "You are a *****-cat and I can lick you," the Scotty said to the farm dog who lived in the house where the Scotty was visiting. "I can lick the little animal with the white stripe, too. Show him to me." "Don't you want to ask any questions about him?" said the farm dog. "Naw," said the Scotty. "You ask the questions."

So the farm dog took the Scotty into the woods and showed him the white-striped animal and the Scotty closed in on him, growling and slashing. IT was all over in a moment and the Scotty lay on his back. When he came to, the farm dog said, "What happened?" "He threw vitriol," said the Scotty, "but he never laid a glove on me."

A few days later the farm dog told the Scotty there was another animal all the farm dogs were afraid of. "Lead me to him," said the Scotty. "I can lick anything that doesn't wear horseshoes." "Don't you want to ask any questions about him?" said the farm dog. "Naw," said the Scotty. "Just show me where he hangs out." So the farm dog led him to a place in the woods and pointed out the little animal when he came along. "A clown," said the Scotty, "a pushover," and he closed in, leading with his left and exhibiting some mighty fancy footwork. In less than a second the Scotty was flat on his back and when he woke up the farm dog was pulling quills out of him. "What happened?" said the farm dog. "He pulled a knife on me," said the Scotty, "but at least I have learned how you fight out here in the country and now I'm going to beat you up." She he closed in on the farm dog, holding his nose with one front paw to ward off the vitriol and covering his eyes with the other front paw to keep out the knives. The Scotty couldn't see his opponent and he couldn't smell his opponent and he was so badly beaten that he had to be taken back to t he city and put in a nursing home.

Moral: It is better to ask some of the questions than to know all the answers.
Where will the liberals gets all their facts to back themselves up in debate now? Where oh where oh where?

Comcast didn't fire Keith Olbermann, company VP says - National TV on DVD | Examiner.com
Since the very abrupt announcement Friday night that Keith Olbermann and his "Countdown" show were parting company, there's been speculation over whether this was voluntary or whether Comcast, the new owner of NBC Universal, was involved. We reported last night that the stream of Twitter posts Olbermann left going into the show may have been a clue to what prompted the surprising turn of events.

However, Sena Fitzmaurice, Vice President of Corporate Communications issued an official response on Comcast's official blog insisting Comcast had nothing to do with it. In a post titled "Comcast Response to Questions about MSNBC and Keith Olbermann," Fitzmaurice wrote, "Comcast has not closed the transaction for NBC Universal and has no operational control at any of its properties including MSNBC. We pledged from the day the deal was announced that we would not interfere with NBC Universal's news operations. We have not and we will not."

There has been no response from Olbermann yet to confirm or deny this any of this as of yet. It'll be interesting when the back story emerges as it likely will.
But maybe the best clue were the final words from Olbermann's usual quote from James Thurber that ended his Friday shows. "It is better to ask some of the questions than know all of the answers," he said.
