Keith Olbermann announces tonight's Countdown as his last show!

Sorry, I had to go and make some mini hot dogs.
What are we talking about again?

I remember watching Hannity and Colmes quite a bit when I was younger. Fox would get a democrat that actually looks like a weasel

Kinda' harsh. Aren't the ideas expressed more important that mear appearance.

I had to watch O'Reilly and Hannity for homework every night my 10th grade year or else I would fail part of my homework assignment.

Really? I remember having to watch the news for some assignments, but any news would do. The only thing I remember doing that was like that was my economics teacher made us listen to Clark Howard.

So, pretty much, you've given up all pretense of making any sense.

You know nothing of the Citizens United decision and its impact on increasing corporate America regarding our political process?

You really need to get informed.

Maybe Hannity and Olbermann, but Beck's show is totally different than any cable news show.

Can't agree. Say what you want about Hannity, but he is not mean-spirited. KO is just plain, freaking mean. He belongs on a message board, not a television.

No, but low ratings pretty much equate to cultural irrelevance. Bill Buckley's Firing Line had substance, but I don't think his ratings compared to Beck's or O'Reilley's.

This is a very good point.

Citizens United was about free speech. Y'know, that thing you claim to believe in.

I imagine that most of the right wing corporatist toadies see it that way also. Free speech for them and everyone else gets pushed aside.

Olbermann getting canned.

Well, when your entire shtick is trying to tell everyone how bad a successful network (Fox News) is, you can only go on for so long.

Hay appears to think Olbermann has had right to free speech violated by being fired.

Whovian appears to think he can speak for others.

Who's not being heard? I mean, other than Olbermann from now on.

He and Hannity would probably kill each other. Olbermann doesn't seem like the lay down and take it type like Colmes was.

O'Reilly probably holds the record for being Keith's Worst Person in the World the most times.
Maybe Bill would hire him as joke to play the Worst Person in the World for about a hundred straight days.

Which brings the question what is the real purpose of these pundits? I mean if shows with substance do not draw attention, than why do they watch shows with much less substance?

Purpose? Ratings for one, which I think will be higher if the commentary is understandable, at least somewhat insightful, and responsible. I saw KO only when someone would post a video, or when another show would quote him.

Buckley's show used to be on my local PBS station on Sunday mornings. Once a week. Fox opinion shows are on every night. If WFB were still around and taping, I would still watch him AND Fox. AND listen to Prager and Medved and Levin on the radio. Which is to say you can have both.

I don't agree with the line that good ratings equate to lack of substance. There's nothing wrong with being informative AND entertaining.

You can't deny that there shows are EXACTLY the same. I mean, sure one left leaning, and the other two are right leaning, but the substance of there shows are exactly the same.

One talks about the news and the other one bashes the one talking about the news.

you JUST said this...
Free speech for them and everyone else gets pushed aside.

You obviously are implying that Olbermann has now somehow had his right to free speech infringed in some way. He does not HAVe a right to a cable show. He is still free to express his opinions where ever he can.
