EPA shuts down one of the largest Coal Mines in U.S.

They'd better reinvent themselves. The low cost of natural gas is going to make coal burning obsolete.

Until the demand goes up to the level of coal and oil. No worries, the EPA will outlaw fracing soon.

Would you rather have taxpayers clean up the mess after they pollute?

Nothing is going to be cleaned up. America is simply going to continue the current path of buying oil from foreign dictators. Left and Right in this country are incapable of working together. So let the chips fall where they may. But I can tell you one thing for sure. You can forget about America leading the way on renewables and alternatives. We won't let it happen.

Wrong. Taxpayers spend billions of dollars to clean up pollution from corporations that put profits ahead of people and the environment.
Who do you think pays for these?

I agree that we are screwed when it comes to energy.

They cannot help themselves.

.

Everything I said was true. Reagan, Bush I and Bush II all embraced Cap and Trade. It is historical record. Some of you people either are in total denial or are just simply ignorant of the truth. Reagan was the greatest president and he was the first to use Cap and Trade. Too bad modern republicans are not Reagan conservatives. They are sheep that are told what to believe.

We are wolves in sheep's clothing. We are going to cause leftist energy policies to fail.

They were rightist policies until leftists embraced them. The right is the cause of almost all of our energy problems. They put profits ahead of what's good for the country.
No, you are just simple sheep. Reagan would be ashamed of you.

Do you want America to go the route of renewables and alternative energy?

Eventually there will be no choice.

Au contraire. You need our cooperation in order to get the direct subsidies and tax credits required to make renewables and alternatives commercially viable.

We have no incentive to cooperate with you. What do you have to offer us which would induce our cooperation?

He openly claimed coal was in his crosshairs, and that he would bankrupt them.

Only if they can't meet enviromental requirements, how do you feel about nuclear power? It's more effecient and has a lot less trouble meeting standards

There's no need for cooperation when the non-renewables run out. I think that's the point he was making.

Fine let the Chinese do it.

Or was it a bone head move by Arch Coal?

Permanent and temporary stream burial could have been cut from 8.3 miles to about 3.4 miles under one alternative mining plan developed for EPA by engineer John Morgan of the Lexington, Ky.-based firm Morgan Worldwide.

The alternative mining plan would have raised production costs for Arch subsidiary Mingo Logan Coal Co. by 55 cents per ton, about 1 percent of the expected per-ton sales price, according to the report obtained under the federal Freedom of Information Act.

Spruce Mine could have reduced impacts, report says* - News - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -

The far-righies aren't interested in the full story... the partisan spin comforts them.

Let's see, we know MMS was corrupt and inept under Bush. Finally, they're cleaning up bad operations.

EPA does their job.

Thank you EPA! Now start regulating CO2 emissions like SCOTUS told you to back in 2007.

If that is the point he is making he hasn't thought out his position. It will be possible to continue importing high priced crude oil from foreign dictators for a very long time. As the price increases so does the incentive to drill. For example, China and Cuba intend to drill for crude oil in the waters between Cuba and Florida. We only need pay the price for the oil. It will still be cheaper than renewables and alternatives without direct subsidies and tax credits.

The point is that conservatives have the power to frustrate leftist hopes on renewables and alternatives. The left must deal with us or nothing will happen.

Fine let the Chinese do it.

That works. Keep the country's current trajectory and the existing political and economic order will collapse. That works because it will then be impossible for the left to impose it's ideology and agenda on conservatives.

What conservatives should do is pass legislation making it a felony for federal officials to spend any federal monies on that crap.

His point is still valid. "Eventually" encompasses a very long time.

Great so conservatives want to lag behind because of their ideology.

What do you mean when you say "lag behind?" Lag behind who?

The people who are working on the renewables and manufacturing them and bringing them to the market like the Chinese are.

Eventually, the rise in price for non-renewables will exceed the declining prices of renewables. Simple supply and demand.
