Anti-gay attack reported on 4th Street in Austin - Dallas Voice

Bobby Beltran said he and his friend had just left Rain, a gay bar, at about 1:30 a.m. When they hugged each other goodbye on the sidewalk, some men in a passing vehicle yelled, “****ing faggots, stop that queer ****!”

After Beltran yelled at the men to “get out of here,” all five of them jumped out of the vehicle and attacked him and his friend. Beltran said he fought back but suffered cuts and bruises and a black eye. His friend may have suffered a broken jaw. The attackers quickly jumped back in the vehicle, which was parked in the middle of the street, and drove off.

“I’ve never in my life been in any kind of violent situation, especially a hate crime, so it’s been pretty traumatic,” Beltran said. “Austin is supposed to be a gay haven, especially on 4th Street. What scares me even more is that nobody even helped.”

Attacking people on the basis of their race, gender, or sexual orientation is about the most moronic behavior I can imagine.

"Kill him!"
"Why?"
"I dunno, he said a word we didn't understand!"

People can be ignorant ****s. If I were there, I would have helped them. Probably by pulling out my 1911 and killing some bitches and hoes (the gay bashers).

agreed, ignorance is bliss I guess
america will change, slowly but surely we get rid of discrimination and gay dicrimination will end too.

It will take forever just like some people still hate and discriminate against minorities and women but our country is better for making it illegal.

Not to side with gay bashers, we're only hearing the victim's side of the story, so...

I'm gonna withhold judgment till all is known. If it went down as reported... that's wrong. However... We don't know that.

Let's wait for the pond slime's side of the story before we rush to judgement...I see what you mean.

The gay guy's mistake was yelling back at George Bush. Screw with George and the whole family piles on.:)

My point is, there have been a lot of flase "Hate crime stories" and not having all the information can lead you too look stupid if it turns out there is more to teh story.

Agreed! Interesting that you are called out for simply bringing the question up? Interesting?

The "kicker" for me is in the quoted "hate crime" in the story.. Smells funny to me.

Tim-

You aren't allowed to question the claims of a protected class when they make claims. It's annoying to me. Do I believe that these folks were wronged, most then likely. Do I have compassion for them, absolutely. HOWEVER, until more information comes out, and not just the victims version...

I'm just not gonna get too excited.

This is what the 2nd Amendment is for, to prevent **** like this from happening.

Yeah... you don't go clubbing a lot do you? It's clear that you don't. Let me give you a clue... People who club aren't thinking they'll get beaten up by 2nd amendment right supporting hillbillies after leaving the club. Usually normal people, don't really fear for their lives so they don't think they'll need to bring a gun to a club or a restaurant, or a ****ing post office. Seriously, is every answer that you give to a situation devoid of rationality? Do you just have a Thomas Jefferson Doll that you shake and it gives you a constitutional amendment to yell out whenever you see a problem? Because you sound like a person who doesn't go out a lot outside of their job.

Mr. Vic has a point. This might be a case of some dude getting his ass kicked, and he just happens to be gay.

Yep. Or he provoked the fight, who knows?

Wait for more information before condemning... I'd of thought Nancy Grace's embarrassment would have taught all that lesson ;)

So, you're saying we should not jump to conclusions and should wait for all the facts before assessing, right?

It's generally a good idea. Remeber that idiot woman that claimed Obama supporters branded a "B" into her face? How about the MIT wasn't it? (Playing Eve atm and this browser get's wonky) Professor who claimed someone wrote racial slurs and hung a noose on her door?

Maybe these two picked a fight and got beat up, maybe they mouthed off and got their asses beat for being twits...

The thing is, there have been too many cases of "victims" lying about supposed hate crimes that I've stopped believing jsut their word. Know what I mean?

Your pissant little rant means nothing, I support self defence and firmly believe an armed individual is realitvely safe individual.

Bingo! I just... find it incredible that in a town as active as Austin, a truck stopped in the middle of a street, people got out, beat the crap of these two then drove off because two "gay guys dared hug in public".

There is more to the story me thinks.

So, you don't believe that gay people might be assaulted in Austin? Do you have any other reasons for doubting the story? for instance, you could have followed up by doing some additional research to answer your own questions. Thus, I wonder what your reasoning is for trying to cast aspersions on this story with zero facts.

and just how is saying "wait until all the facts come out before crucifying the guys in the truck" casting aspersions on the story?

It's not, it's obvious I hate gays and cheer them being beaten in the streets.
I of course, all ready covered this in post #13:

You aren't allowed to question the claims of a protected class when they make claims.
