NASA's Ares rocket dead, but Congress lets you pay $500 million more for it

WASHINGTON — Thanks to congressional inaction, NASA must continue to fund its defunct Ares I rocket program until March — a requirement that will cost the agency nearly $500 million at a time when NASA is struggling with the expensive task of replacing the space shuttle.

Another $500 billion, about $500 per taxpayer, down the drain due gross incompetence.

Yes, I know. I got the figures from a blog, and you know how they can exaggerate. The real figures are $500 million, which amounts to only about $5 per taxpayer. Still, half a billion here, three quarters there, pretty soon, you're talking about real money.

What's stupid is we have a government that rather than tell them to spend the money elsewhere they are going to continue building it just because they are getting funds that were supposed to be stopped.
