The frustration with President Barack Obama over his tax cut compromise was palpable and even profane at Thursday’s House Democratic Caucus meeting.

One unidentified lawmaker went so far as to mutter “**** the president” while Rep. Shelley Berkley was defending the package the president negotiated with Republicans. Berkley confirmed the incident, although she declined to name the specific lawmaker.

“It wasn’t loud,” the Nevada Democrat said. “It was just expressing frustration from a very frustrated Member.”


Rep. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.) was also overheard saying that “we can’t trust him” not to cave to Republicans and extend the tax cuts again in two years, according to a Democratic source.

The anger aimed at the bill was widespread. As Democrats moved to block the bill from coming up on the floor, chants of “Just say no!” could be heard by reporters outside the room.

Yes I do. But he cares more about being re-elected than his ties to the far left whom helped him be elected. We he needs them again, they will be there and when he wants them to be thrown under the bus they will be stupid enough to stand back up to support him again.
 
So does this mean the Dems are the party of no and against bi-partisan? Why do they have to hate the rich so much that they can't allow them to keep the tax cuts they already have in a time of economic trouble? Why can't the Dems compromise on something so small as extending the tax cuts for the rich as well as everyone else? I honestly don't understand it.

The president is playing politics. If it looks like he can work with both sides he will have a better chance At the election in 2012. He cares about votes not the people

But he shall recieve niether Republican support, nor votes for these actions.

Republicans are doing whats best for the country, they're getting back on track after the Bush years, finding their focus. If it also happens that the president supports it, whatever, he's giving in the coward. People will see conservatism as the answer for this country, and we'll get everything back on track in 2012 when we take back the senate, a larger majority in the house, and finally get a true, patriotic American in the white house.

Not this Anti-American socialist.

Extending unemployment bennies reduced the deficit? What about the recent reparations?

How 'bout we re-deposit what's left of that bull**** stimulus package in the government checking account. That would go a long way to reducing the deficit.

Creating a stimulus bill, to fund every Liberal wet dream for the past 30 years and a healthcare bill designed to destroy the healthcare system, so the government can take it over isn't the work of a far left socialist?

I said in the campaign, that he wanted to shutdown the energy companies and redistribute wealth and stick it to the so called rich folks. Sounds purdy leftist, to me.

Bush spent more money on Stimulus deals, and the healthcare bill is like the one the republicans pushed for in the 90's. Obama has been a center left president at best. I think most people wish he would start being more liberal.

The health care plan comes straight out of the Republican playbook, talked about by Nixon, Bob Dole and implemented by Mitt Romney in Massachusetts.

The government took over NOTHING, all health insurance is provided by PRIVATE companies. In fact what was passed is very similar to the Medicare Part "D" legislation passed by President Bush.

BTW, now many republicans voted for it? Sure makes everyone that wanted it on the left to now realize it was the final nail in the lid. So now they want to lie and claim it was the republican idea.

This is the problem with the two party system, if you have a problem with one party, there is nowhere to turn but the other. Most people wanted Heathcare, and the things Obama promised during his campaign. But when he has been more than timid during the past two years pushing them through, and since the economy hasn't improved overnight,(which is was naive for anyone to think that it would) people got pissed off, and voted against the incumbent party. This is a problem with the two party system.

Your HATE buzzword isn't near as effective as it once was. You'll have to think up a new one.

Back in the 70s, the difference between rich and poor was only 20 to one. Now, thanks to Reagan raising the National Debt 174 percent, it's a thousand to one, and the rich and poor don't work any harder than than they did back then.

but being strong and dumb doesn't earn someone 85,000 like it once did in Detroit. As the information age advances. the ability to make a good salary without being well educated fades. that is more a reason for the gap. Plus as time advances, those who are able to compete the best will win more

States have more power to do things like implement health plans

It's also better that way. You have 50 different systems competing, which is just another intended check and balance that progressives have no use for today.

the benefit of having a single federal system is you can borrow money (with intentions of debasing currency) to pay for it, but that also means you don't really have a leg to stand on when claiming you care about debt reductions.

why did obama resort to senate reconciliation to get his health care bill?

why before november 2 was he 100% consistent and adamant that tax cuts must not be extended to millionaires and billionaires?

why on monday this week did he suddenly reverse and announce that the bush tax cuts for ALL americans are "the right thing to do?"
