ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The Top'

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

amazing ain't it that people that are for making wealth are so much against a person that made wealth ain't it?
I don't follow, I don't see where wealth is a factor. Glenn Beck makes a ton of money, that's not my concern.

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

Is George Soros a Modern Rumpelstiltskin?

This guy is scum. I can't believe the liberals are practically worshipping the guy.
He has said he thinks of himself as a God....but still...

Soros made money for himself. And people that are for making money for themeselves bitch and moan about Soros making money for himself.

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

This is what it says in Wikipedia:
The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper...It said report to the rabbi seminary at 9 a.m....And I was given this list of names. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, "You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported.
Did Beck leave out the part that Soros didn't know what he was doing? That sounds like typical Beck to me.
Sounds like what he didn't know was explained to him by his father? Anyway...

Do we know how many of those lawyers he delivered the slips of paper to were in fact deported and ended up in Auschwitz?

Huh? Who is against Soros because he's wealthy? No one that I know. Read up on the information about Soros. He's not a good guy.

How so? The Koch brothers take delight in bringing down economies? They think of themselves as some sort of 'god'?

In other words, you just threw that comparison out there with zero proof and you don't want to take the time to find out if your assumption was right or wrong because you really want it to be right, but it might be wrong. So why even look? :)

No, i said it has been done to death pretty much. I'm not a fan of Soros either. And plenty has been posted about him to around here:coffeepap

I need some proof of you implying that George Soros brought "down economies." After all, if you are going to smear a man, you need proof.

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

That's like going to the cat to find out what the mouse said. Listen to HIS SHOW -- his own words -- not websites that take little clips here and there while adding their own commentary.

Meh. It's probably no use. You think Media Matters is unbiased.

You mean they do exactly what Glenn Beck has been doing to Soros all week? Showing little edited clips and then conflating the edited versions into lies? I just can't believe people are really considering this stuff plausible.

Just one good example.

BECK: I want you to know and remember this: In the last three episodes, I'm not making claims, I'm not asking questions, I'm not telling you statements of fact. What I'm telling you is, watch George Soros in his own words. Where is the country headed? George Soros.

[start video clip]

QUESTIONER: The question is what whether we need and whether Mr. Soros and his foundations can help to bring more foreign influence in the United States instead of relying on what is essentially a balance between Democrats and conservative Republicans.

SOROS: I think you put your finger on a very important flaw in the current world order, and that is that only Americans have a vote in Congress. And yet, it is the United States that basically determines policy for the world. That is a flaw in the current setup.
[end video clip]

BECK: It's a problem for him that people in China or France don't get to vote, find out who sits in Congress. Is it for you? You need to make a choice. Mr. Soros has made his choice. I have made mine. Tonight you decide.
You can go here and watch the full video that Beck took the clip from and selectively edited.
U.S. Foreign Policy - C-SPAN Video Library
First, in context you can see that Soros was specifically talking about out foreign policy and Iraq and Afghanistan. Something that Beck completely left out.
QUESTIONER: My name is Lee Retiener, and sir, it seems to me four options have arisen today, only one of which is new and hasn't been spoken of yet. Your option of creating a new community of democracies, which in a sense is pronouncing the U.N. a little bit dead [...] The second is improving the United Nations. Its failures -- I don't mean in the Security Council but over the past 20 years and through the dominance of the Group of 77 and the new world economic order -- gave Wolfowitz the right, the power, and the philosophical justification, and those like him, to do what he has now done. That's part of the answer to the question that was asked earlier. So improving the United Nations, which is a long-sought-after goal, is one to which great effort would have to be given. But there's another way, which would be entirely unconstitutional, but I advance it not for the sake of humor, but only to help thought -- which is to create a third branch of Congress for foreign governments only. Proportionate representation in the United States Congress so that the Chinese can legitimately give money, so that Israel can give us money --

[unintelligible]

The question is whether we need and whether Mr. Soros and his foundations can help to bring more foreign influence into the United States instead of relying on what is essentially a balance between Democrats and conservative Republicans, which hasn't worked and is not about to start working.

SOROS: Look, I think -- I think you put your finger on a very important flaw in the current world order, and that is that only Americans have a vote in Congress. And yet, it is the United States that basically determines policy for the world. That is a flaw in the current setup. I don't think you can correct it by giving the Chinese government a vote in Congress. But it is a flaw, and I think this is where American leadership is needed, to take into account and respect the interests of others as well, in order to retain the dominant position we currently enjoy.

There you go. Argue this case if you really want anyone to take him as any more than a circus clown.

He presents a selectively edited clip, left out all context, claimed that "it's a problem for him (Soros) that people in china and France don't get a vote" in congress, and in the very next part of the clip that he left out Soros explains that that isn't something we should do.

Are there any questions? Is there really any way that anybody can spin this into anything more than either Glenn Beck carelessly cutting and pasting clips like an idiot cause he knows his followers would never dare back check him or Glenn Beck just flat out lied.

This isn't some outside source, some liberal media watchdog, these are Glenn Becks actual words and the actual video that he showed. Please try to defend him on this one.

Beck Responds to ADL Statement Calling His Soros Reporting ‘Horrific’ & ‘Offensive’ | The Blaze

This has the video of Soros talking about when he was 14.
It also has Glenn talking about the same thing.
Do we have that whole video so I can see the context around what he was saying? As I showed on my last post you can not trust Beck. He edits and lies way too much to actually trust his editing. Wheres the entire section of what he was talking about. Was he asked a question he was answering? Was he talking about how the times made him and his family closer or something? We have no idea. Where's the whole video and please explain you're take on my last post if you actually take Glenn Beck as trustworthy.

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

Read up on the information about Soros. He's not a good guy.
I think his 60 minutes interview says a lot. When Kroft suggests that the acts Soros performed with the Jewish Council "would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years," Soros responds by saying it "created no problem at all" -- that he felt no guilt.

Let's pause for a second and let that sink in... at the very minimum you're going into homes, forcibly removing families who must be distraught/terrified, and taking their possessions. Yet this creates "no problem at all."
So why no guilt? Apparently he believes he had "no role" -- is not responsible for his actions -- more or less because 'if I didn't do it, someone else would have.' He even goes so far as to imply that that's what has brought him success in the markets: "well, actually, in a funny way, it's just like in markets."

It sounds like if the markets allowed him to take the life savings of 1000's of families, he would feel no guilt in doing so -- so long as he convinced himself that "of course, if I wasn't doing it, somebody else would be taking it away anyhow."

With that reasoning, there's very little you can't justify. No... he's not a good guy.

Can you find any Soro's quote saying he went forcibly into people's houses? All I've found is where he said that he handed out papers to people asking them to come to the council.

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

pb, why don't you actually watch him instead of relying on other people to tell you what he says?

Because his show causes brain cells to die. Beck is constantly over the top, that's how these political entertainers are.

Yes, in the 60 minutes interview I referenced:
Extended quotation from the 60 Minutes transcript follows: ?When the Nazis occupied Budapest in 1944, George Soros' father was a successful lawyer. He lived on an island in the Danube and liked to commute to work in a rowboat. But knowing there were problems ahead for the Jews, he decided to split his family up. He bought them forged papers and he bribed a government official to take 14-year-old George Soros in and swear that he was his Christian godson. But survival carried a heavy price tag. While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to the death camps, George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.

KROFT: (Voiceover) And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.

Mr. SOROS: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that's when my character was made.

KROFT: In what way?

Mr. SOROS: That one should think ahead. One should understand and--and anticipate events and when--when one is threatened. It was a tremendous threat of evil. I mean, it was a--a very personal experience of evil.

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. That's right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that's--that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Mr. SOROS: Not--not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don't--you don't see the connection. But it was--it created no--no problem at all.
KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

Mr. SOROS: No.

KROFT: For example that, 'I'm Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.' None of that?

Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c--I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn't be there, because that was--well, actually, in a funny way, it's just like in markets--that if I weren't there--of course, I wasn't doing it, but somebody else would--would--would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the--whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the--I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt. (George Soros, 60 Minutes interview transcript, December 20, 1998)

Re: ADL:Glenn Beck's Remarks About Soros And The Holocaust 'Offensive And Over The To

I am basically there to--to make money. I cannot and do not look at the social consequences of--of what I do. George Soros, commenting on being blamed for the financial collapse of Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and Russia. (60 Minutes interview transcript, December 20, 1998)

I don't feel guilty. Because I'm engaged in an amoral activity which is not meant to have anything to do with guilt. George Soros, commenting on his actions in the currency markets. (60 Minutes interview transcript, December 20, 1998)

...but I wouldn't let this scare you. I'm sure his involvement in American politics and support for the liberal cause stems from a feeling of overwhelming compassion and concern over social wellbeing. :lamo

Glenn Beck draws criticism over latest Holocaust comments | The Upshot Yahoo! News

"Glenn Beck draws criticism over latest Holocaust comments"

Beck said on the radio Wednesday that Soros—as a 13-year-old Jewish boy, living apart from his parents in order to avoid apprehension by the Nazis—"used to go around with this anti-Semite and deliver papers to the Jews and confiscate their property and then ship them off. … It was frightening. Here's a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps."

"While I, too, may disagree with many of Soros' views and analysis on the issues, to bring in this kind of innuendo about his past is unacceptable," Foxman said. "To hold a young boy responsible for what was going on around him during the Holocaust as part of a larger effort to denigrate the man is repugnant."
