Accuser: Ga. bishop was 'monster' but 'I loved him'
Lawsuits allege megachurch preacher Eddie Long gave cars, cash to teenage boys

ATLANTA — One of the young men accusing megachurch bishop Eddie Long of coercing him into a sexual relationship told a TV interviewer that he loved the pastor and considered him a father figure, but still called him a "predator" and a "monster."

"I loved him and I'm always going to have love for the things he taught us, but how he left us hurt worse than anything I ever felt in my life," Jamal Parris told Atlanta's Fox TV affiliate WAGA in an interview broadcast Tuesday. "This man turned his back on us when he had no more need for us. That's not a father, that's a predator."

Parris, 23, is one of four men suing the TV preacher in state court, claiming that he abused his "spiritual authority" and gave them cars, clothes, cash and trips to lure them into sexual relationships while they were teen members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta.

Parris described an ongoing emotional struggle.
'He made me cry' "I cannot get the sound of his voice out of my head and I cannot forget the smell of his cologne and I cannot forget the way he made me cry many nights when I drove in his cars on the way home," Parris said. "I'm not able to take enough showers to wipe the smell of him off my body."

Maybe I am just too cynical, but this doesn't sound to me like a guy who is upset because he got molested. This sounds like a guy whining because the pastor dumped him and now he gets no more cars, cash, etc.

This wasn't some rich playboy he met at a gay bar. The man was a religious authority who liked to act as a father figure to the young men in his flock. I can't say if a crime was committed or not, but the pastor is clearly a sleazebag. Having sex with the boys and then preaching about the evils of homosexuality is a ****ed up thing to do.

true, but it still strikes me as this guy is more upset about being "cut off" from the cash and cars than he is about being molested.

The guy got taken advantage of by someone he basically considered his father. That is going to completely screw a kid up, made worse if he gets abandoned afterward. I have no idea idea where you getting the gold digging angle from. Do you also think the molested catholic choir boys actually just miss getting plied with communion wine?

These guys were 17-18 years old when they got "molested", not little kids. This preacher basically paid them for sex with cash and cars. He got tired of them and stopped paying them and now they are suing him (I didn't see anything about them wanting him to go to jail or be punished). They just want the money.

Yeah, I am sure they totally went into a church, walked up to the pastor and said "I'll blow you for a Lexus". Long approached them as the leader of the church and as a foster father. Again, I can't say if his actions broke the law or not, but that is downright sleazy as hell.

of course he is sleazy as hell and he did take advantage of them. My point is that it apparently only became a problem AFTER he dropped them and the $$$ and cars dried up. That is where I get the "gold digging" angle from.
