Burger King isn't hiring here. Applicants up the whazoo. Same goes for McDonalds.

They wouldn't be able to feed their family on those wages let alone pay the bills. So if you has a choice between that an unemployment until you got a job that did, which choice would you make? I doubt you'd make the choice to be homeless out of principal.

So someone says "go spend ONE DAY in the field than come testify"!!! ONE DAY!? Congress was simply brought in to the light exposing them to America for being the hideously ignorant, self-serving, megawealthy trash that has been the case for way too long. I salute Mr. Colbert for his courage to speak his voice. All he was proving beyond a doubt is "why is this STILL an issue?" He was laughing at them and succeeded in humiliating them all. Bless you brother Colbert, I wish it was me in that seat.

It probably varies from State to State, but in Oregon you can earn 1/2 the amount of your unemployment before they take any money from your check...... then it's $1 for every $2 over that 1/2. If a person is getting Max unemployment that would be a large increase in take home pay.

I don't believe you can collect unemployment if you work in my state.

Who said they were the only employers? The jobs just aren't here right now period. My business is down and I considered substitute teaching. Guess what? The local schools don't have a budget for substitutes that's how bad it is here.
