Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama’s’

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

There is no way 52 percent of Americans would place this country in the hands of Palin. The majority of this is just hating on Obama.

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

Grammar and spelling aren't your strengths are they? It appears you want to say that 52% of Americans are stupid; typical left wing European snobbery. Of course you people wish you had half the wealth, power and accomplishment of these supposedly stupid Americans.

Thank you for playing.

Responding to snobbery with snobbery, I bet that was entirely lost on you wasn't it?

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

ROTFLOL... Palin 52% Obama 40%

ROTFLOL... a political MOAB!

And as we know, there are more mainstream folks than pinheads.
Seems they aren't too keen on Obama's definition of Change we can believe in.

.
WHAT is a "political class"?
and concerning "more mainstream folks than pinheads", is that overall or just the ones who listen to pundits?

I don't blame them... it's a recession, and people heal through laughter. She might as well campaign on a platform of "change we can laugh at".

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

Perhaps the poster was looking for more intelligent comments of Sarah Palin, supported by actual facts, than "she says dumb and dishonest things".

The death panel stuff is a good example, as were the socialist nonsense. Those were examples. But let's take a look:

Palin said, "Democrats are poised now to cause this largest tax increase in U.S. history." She was asked about tax cuts for the top 2 percent. Either Palin is confused about the revenue numbers involved with extending the tax cuts, or she's willfully distorting the Democratic plans. We'll let you be the judge of that. Regardless, Wallace was very specific about asking her about tax increases for the top 2 percent. And that does not represent the largest tax increase in history. The unlikely outcome that she seems to be talking about -- that all of the Bush tax cuts will be repealed -- wouldn't be the largest tax increase in history either. Palin read the number on her hand correctly, but that's about all she got right. So we rate her statement Pants on Fire.

PolitiFact | Sarah Palin said Democrats are planning "the largest tax increase in U.S. history"

PolitiFact's Lie of the Year: 'Death panels'

Seniors and the disabled "will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care."
Sarah Palin, Friday, August 7th, 2009.

Ruling: Pants on Fire!

PolitiFact | PolitiFact's Lie of the Year: 'Death panels'

So no, Obama's tax increase on those making more than $250,000 would not represent a transformation of the U.S. system of government. His desire to "spread the wealth" through progressive taxation makes him no less a capitalist than McCain, or Lincoln. Palin's allegation that Obama wants to "experiment with socialism" seems designed less to inform than to inflame. That's Pants on Fire wrong.

I well understand your point of View on this - and I will not Vote for Palin for President. Howver I will not vote for either Obama or Hillary Clinton under any circumstances. I will never be an active participent in the demise of this Nation.

The TP types and others based on the "Righteous Indignation" have possibly brought us to such a critical point to where We are wading into unforseen dangerous waters. As Ben Franklin once said "Where Passion Rules - it Never Governs Wisely"

Did you vote for Bush?

Your hyperbole aside, any demise this country may be facing is not related to who is president. We might start by looking in the mirror and at how willing we are to believe the unbelievable and participate not in constructive discourse, but as part of the maddening venonomus partisan discourse we see today. Too much Beck and Oberman make us all idiots.

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

I Voted Against Gore and Kerry 4 years apart. I Voted against Bill Clinton twice . I also recognize exactly how Ross Perot opened the door real wide for the Clinton era to begin and Bill & Hillary just possibly brought this country past the Point of No Return.

In voting against, you voted for. To use an old question, were we better off after Bush than before?

However, don't forget the second paragrapgh of my response:

I'm well aware of today's venom. It's out there like Never before in my life at least and it's more Cultural than ever - so quite possibly in 1992 Pat Buchanan had it totally right in that Houston speech that so many Progressive's denounced.

that's just ridiculous. years of peace and porsperity. brink of destruction. lol.

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

I cannot believe anyone would be shocked at this. The average American voter has no idea what is actually going on in their government. They tune in to spin-doctors and partisan hacks for their information. Political ads from both sides are extremely misleading and full of lies. If a country is not motivated enough to even keep-up with what is going on, is it so shocking to hear they think they are more in-line with Palin? She does not talk in details, rather she regurgitates platitudes that strike a chord with the down-home, average "joe's" and that is what keeps her popular.

I think your assessment is totally wrong. It may have been correct a couple yrs ago. However I think the American people are awake now and educating themselves on what is going on in their country.
We will be seeing enthusiastic and informed voters next month and in 2012.

Well if voters continue to vote as they have for the past 60 years, which they probably will, then the average voter is woefully unaware of most things. The know just enough to barely make a semi-informed decision.

I think people are much more informed today than ever before. Remember the town hall meetings? The people were more informed about what was in the healthcare bill than their politicians were.

Yeah on a single issue. Single issues do not show how informed a voter is, rather that they are a specialist in a certain area. In a whole voters just aren't that informed because to most people they spend their lives doing something else.

i'm afraid not. what i see is people parroting what their latest idols say........they don't seem to be educated. republicans are continuing to play on fear and socialism, NOT on fixing what might be wrong. just look at the tea party darlings....no platform to speak of, just words.

Had it right, or was part of the problem? Pat was quite divisive back then.

Yes I do remember, and the misinformation was and has been rampant.

Re: Rasmussen: ‘52 percent of voters say their views are more like Palin’s than Obama

I'm sorry, that makes no sense. Ras. has always been the most accurate in calling elections because they poll only likely voters. Takes some of the guess work out. Why would conservatives be more likely to vote?
It's getting late and almost time for Red-Eye to come on. Maybe i'm just tired and don't get where you're coming from.

Rasmussen isn't 'always' the most accurate in calling elections. It is the most accurate in elections where likely voters form a lord's share of the electorate.

From wikipedia:

Slate Magazine and The Wall Street Journal reported that Rasmussen Reports was one of the most accurate polling firms for the 2004 United States presidential election and 2006 United States general elections.[11][12][not in citation given] In 2004 Slate magazine "publicly doubted and privately derided" Rasmussen's use of recorded voices in electoral polls. However, after the election, they concluded that Rasmussen’s polls were among the most accurate in the 2004 presidential election.[13] According to Politico, Rasmussen's 2008 presidential-election polls "closely mirrored the election's outcome".[14]

Near the end of the 2008 Presidential Election, progressive statistician Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com analyzed eight national presidential tracking polls. Silver concluded that while none was perfect, "Rasmussen – with its large sample size and high pollster rating – would probably be the one I'd want with me on a desert island."[15] By 2010, however, Silver's view of Rasmussen had changed. In an analysis posted at FiveThirtyEight.com on April 17, 2010, Silver concluded that since the end of the 2008 election cycle, Rasmussen's "house effect" was skewing its polling numbers and that "to believe that Rasmussen is getting it right: you also have to believe that almost everyone else is getting it wrong." Silver also disputed Rasmussen's suggestion that difference between his results and those of other polls can be explained by Rasmussen polling only "likely voters" rather than all adults.[16]

A more elaborate criticism of the concept of "likely voters" can be found here.

Although in the case of my argument, it is the reverse. I have little doubt the people who claim they are going to vote against Democrats are going to vote against Democrats, but there is ample reason to believe that people who are going to vote in favor of Democrats aren't reporting their intention. Regardless of regional affiliation, conservatives everywhere are marking themselves high on the "likely voter" list in a way Demoocrats aren't. It's sort of a way of over compensating for the helplessness of being the party out of power.

As for why conservatives are more likely to vote, that's the recorded trend -- it is probably because they have stronger feelings about politics and a stronger faith in their preferred political party.

Then how did they get the "death panels" thing wrong?

Agreed. In fact, a shocking 1 in 5 Americans that believe President Obama is a muslim (while those who are "uncertain" rising from 36% to 43%) is a valid example of how informed people are.

Exactly. Misinformation dies a hard, slow death and too many havelearned how to use this to keep the people upset and ill informed.

The reason for that, so many people WANT to be misled and ill informed, as long as it is about people they don't like in the first place.
There are several ways to describe people like that...none of them nice.
