GIRLS as young as 14 are getting Brazilian waxes

I'm with 1069 - what's the big deal?
My oldest son is 12 and he's been shaving his mustache and beard for over a year, now.

Unwanted body hair is unwanted body hair - regardless of your age.

When I was 9 I started puberty - in a bra at 10 - pubic hair for years and never once did it occur to me to do anything about it (it didn't occur to my Mom, either). Until I was 12 and my school class had a swim-party. . . I didn't even own a swimsuit. I borrowed my older sister's swimsuit - which was white - and was humiliated when I went swimming and everyone GAWKED at me in the most horrible way: apparently pubic hair showing - and nipples erect. . . and I was the ONLY ONE who seemed to have the problem. . . but *no one* told me *what* the problem really was - but the guys STARED in disbelief and girls were embarrassed just to be *near* me. It was awe-ful.

Of course - my response wasn't "Oh, I'll shave or trim!" - instead it was "I'm such a freak, I can never go swimming EVER because I'm so different"

Boys have shorts they wear - girls DON'T - girls have hip-showing, butt-cheek revealing swimsuits - and wearing panties with that going on is VERY uncomfortable to say the least. The pressure to shave doesn't come from TV, models or anything else - it comes from the CLOTHES you wear.
If men were expected to wear bananasuits or speedos all the time for underwear they'd be shaving it, too - at the early age of 10 and 11.

I didn't learn about shaving the pubic region until I was 22. I wish someone told me about that novel idea when I was 11 - it would have spared me serious humiliation . . . I might have been ok with going to a beach or going swimming. That one horrible day in front of my entire school was so humiliating - it took me years to get over it.

I have 3 boys and 1 girl - you're damn right I'll teach them proper hygiene when it becomes necessary and I'll spare her the embarrassment that I went through because as a parent that's my job.

I didn't have anything going on down there at 10 or 11. Boys mature a little later though.
