It's Official Jon Stewart & Colbert will host a rally on October 30th in DC

Agreed 100%. The extremists are a minority, but they are actively getting out the vote such as in O'Donnells election in Delaware. If the majority of voters, especially moderate voters, continue to sit on the sidelines, then our elections will be determined by a radical minority.

BTW, I plan on going. Rally to Restore Sanity

Then moderates should vote. I do not sympathize with them if they are disagreeing with O' Donnell and do not vote. Sorry, stop tearing up.

Stewart made that point about why we don't hear more from the radical moderates or center majority -- we got **** to do. We're busy.
"Radical moderates... center majority"... ROTFLOL. This is why he should have the rally.

I LOVE the timing of it. These people think it will make a difference, and it will... as a reminder... to those who want to boot the Radical Moderates out of office.

Unfortunately, our apathy may bite us in the ass this Nov.
Translation: The cult has worn off, the leader exposed for the Radical he is, the left is exposed for the radicals they are... the "moderates" have sobered up and left the building.

The core issue being that Democratic voters actually want moderates in power, while conservatives want the extremists. And somehow they think this is a good idea.

Pretty broad brush with that statement. Am interpreting your meaning to be "Democrats=good/smart. Conservatives=bad/not smart".

Be interesting to hear what your definition is for the bolded words in your core issue conclusion. :thinking

Mostly because members of the Democratic Party base are recognizing that their power is slipping from their fingers and they are naturally scared of their intense competition, who this time happen to be "extremists" (though, the label of "extremists" seem to shift their political positions depending upon the election cycle). Democrats would naturally want a competitor with views closer to their own.

In a way, it is somewhat hilarious. Democrats have for years yearned for the "Republican party of old" (whatever that meant) to return to save them from the foul positions of the George W. Bush administration. Now that they get a smell of what that might be like, the aroma is no longer appetizing.

I can't speak for Deuce, but for me I'd much rather have a moderate Democrat or moderate Republican (more preferably a moderate Independent) than a far left Democrat or a far right Republican. And from what we're seeing from the Tea Party they would much rather have a full-blown conservative rather than someone who is fiscally conservative but socially moderate. Being fiscally conservative is something I think most people can agree with right now... but it's important to have moderate qualities otherwise it will be difficult to make compromises. Not to mention if someone is too far left or right they will likely ignore the will of people in their state who are on the other side of the aisle.

ROTFLOL... where is the great mass of moderate Democrats voting for fiscal sanity? What we have is a country drowning, and Obama and his radikals in Congress decided we could be saved by shoving a fire hose down our throats and turning it on full blast.

The only chance to repeal the damage and get some fiscal sanity behind the steering wheel isn't to vote for R's that would vote for the Dem agenda... we tried that and it didn't work.

We also offered the ultimate RINO in the last election and he was a doormat... that against a tragically flawed Dem.

What we need, and you obviously believe is radical are folks who believe in The Constitution and want to return our freedoms back to us... including the freedom to keep what we earn.

I know... that's radical... for Obama supporting Marxists.

they should all dress in costumes. half go as palin with tea bags hanging from their rears and the other half as beck with vicks rubbed on their rears. :p

Lest anyone doubt ...... IT'S HAPPENING!!!!

"Within hours of the announcement, 34,000 people pledged to attend the rally through its Facebook fanpage. Other rallies were planned overnight in American cities and cities outside the United States while the pledged number of attendees to the official Facebook event reached 69,000.[2] 12 hours after the announcement there were "tens of thousands" of respondents. As of 11:30 EST Sunday, the Facebook event has 80,000 attendees, comparable to some estimates of Beck's Restoring Honor rally.[6]...."

It never ceases to amaze me how seemingly smart people use the Comedy Channel as their news source.

He said smarter. He didn't say his news source. You actually have to know the news first to get the jokes, so the comedy is for people who are already informed. Just pointing that out for ya. ;)

I really don't agree. I thought the beauty of the show, even during its purely media-bash tendencies in the 90s, that you didn't have to know the news to enjoy the jokes.

Maybe some of it. But I do think you get more, much more, if you're informed.

To me, not really. The pay off to being informed was to be seen more through a bit from Robin Williams or Dennis Miller.

If it wasn't for so many politicians and pundits saying so many stupid things, Stewart and Colbert wouldn't have their own shows. You can't just ignore all that great raw material being presented on a silver platter. It just begs for a response that rightfully ridicules such stupidity.

Their careers are made because we have so many shameless whores who will sell the country out for a few political payoffs...and it is sad how cheaply our politicians are being bought. It's not like they have any foreign competition for the jobs...:2razz:

Just as there are 9/12 rallies and tea parties all over the nation on certain days. Copycats. :)

I think it's highly silly to parody the Restoring Honor Rally. It was fabulous. What are they going to do? Make fun of God? The Cardinals? The military man who had a bomb go off in his hand? Black people? Gospel singers?

I think the belief that one political philosophy has a monopoly on these subjects is a perfectly good subject for ridicule.

No, there going to be making fun of you, and people like you.

Yet there are no moderate mainstream news organizations (that I'm aware of).

There used to be. Walter Cronkite was the man who delivered.

How hard is it to sign up for a facebook event? I'd wait to see how many people show up. The Daily Show get's lots of... younger viewers. Who tend to be quick to get excited but rarely follow through.

Besides, who takes Colbert or Stewart seriously?

God doesn't have a sense of humor?

I *hope* they make fun of all the silly gods. It'll make it that much more entertaining.

I read this article and laughed aloud several times. THAT'S what I expect from political entertainers (but don't get from Beck et al).

My Way News - Colbert to rally against faux nemesis Stewart

Damnit! You mean I have to choose which rally to go to? Well that sucks.

I think I'm just going to bounce back and forth between the two. lol

She was close to being the Vice President, and she was a former Governor. I do not really enjoy the woman, but I give credit where credit is due. With Beck, I agree he is a shock-jock, but he's a self-assured and powerful shock-jock.

No. He's only powerful if power is assigned to him. Those ignorant or fearful enough to give him power deserve whatever ugliness will follow in this country.
