Obama: Critics 'talk about me like a dog'

You have got to be kidding...Obama is doing something, and it's more than just hoping for a change, He is a Change in spite of himself and if the American People would stop being so fickled, he could do much more to civilized the Country!!!

hope against hope - to persist in hoping for something against the odds.
Obma's policies have been
a failure and all the hope in the world isn't going to change that.
How 'bout we forget about hope and actually DO something?
Something that will do away with all the uncertainty for businesses, large and small.

We are plenty civilized, thank you very much.

that's true. but in all seriousness, i have no probelm with my tax dollars going to feed a child. or provide healthcare for that child. now, i might think welfare needs another overhaul, but in the meantime, i don't care that a welfare mother gets food stamps to feed her kids, or subsidized rent.

think about it...if we left everyone to their own devices, how much do you think crime would increase?

I don't mind programs that give kids a break. I think my biggest "welfare" programs are those that legitimize behavior that leaves a person needing welfare in the first place. Programs like clean needle exchanges, etc.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean ...

one reason I worry about what other people get is because I am paying for it and they are not. the next time I buy groceries, why don't you pay for it since it is no big deal?

don't you mean your mother is on medicare? there is a difference. medicare is for old and retired people, much like social security. medicAID is a hand out to poor people

like what? what benefits do I qualify for that you pay for that I don't also pay for? the only benefit I can think of that I qualify for that you don't would be the GI Bill and I spent 3 years in the desert eating ****ty food and being shot at to EARN that entitlement.

We always pay, government or not. Take medicine for example. People get hurt in an accident and can't pay. They get treated, but can't pay. Who do you think pays when the government doesn't? We still do.

Besides, whining about who you pay for is simply looking for false pity. you likely don't do that much with your taxes, and there is much more need than we meet as a whole in this society. So while I do believe in personal responisbilty, I reject the notion that we can't or shouldn't offer help to those in need. And I reject that the government is spearate from us, the people. We can use government as a tool to tackle larger problems.

Anyway, I realize you were not talking to me. But thought I'd chime in all the same. ;)

It doesn't much matter at this point. :lamo

still tis curious, I had no freaking clue what she was talking about. was there some point she was trying to make or was it just random jabbering?

anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Obama needs to man up and stop his whining. he is a political figure and his opponents talk **** about him. OOOOOOHHHHHHH big freaking shocker there, it has only been happening since the dawn of mankind

Odd, most people I hear using the N word, are using it behind closed doors like most racist, bigotted, prejudiced hypocrites do... They don't say it in Public like Black people do... but never the less all people who are guiltly of this they fall under the same definition...Blacks, Whites, and In Between Colors, they are either uneducated or just plain disrespectful to another Human Being....whether it is said in Public or Private and that is a fact... PERIOD ...

Odd, I never hear that word from people I hang around with. I wouldn't be friends with bigots. Do you show your disapproval when you hear this talk behind closed doors?

I don't have a problem helping those in need who are in need through no fault of their own. what I object to is helping those lazy bastards who are in need because of their own stupidity or lack of effort.

Assuming you can know exactly who those people are.

should be

a guy who lost his job because it was out-sourced to india, no fault of his own
a guy who has no job because he chose to drink beer instead of go to school, his own fault

a single mom with two kids whose husband died or left her, not her fault
a single mom with 5 kids by 4 different men who has never been married, her own damn fault.

you get the picture. all it would take is a little effort on the part of the welfare people.

Again, without being personally involved in each case history, how do you know who is who? And how do you know with certainty that the mother did anything more than choose her men poorly, an easy mistake to make. Odd you don't blame the dads< don't you think?

But the point is such generalizations are like most generalizations and reduce things to a point of not accurately depicting the population receiving help. In other words, while there may well be those who are lazy and at fault, it is more likely that most have simply run into hard times. But in any case, it doesn't serve us well to have people suffering without intervention. While we might debate how best to help, we should agree to help as best we can.

and why should "we" have to pay for her mistake? how many kids does she get to have by making the same mistake over and over again before it is too many?

And no, I don't find it odd that I don't blame the dads in this particular instance, because the dad's are not getting welfare for these kids. it is therefore irrelevant to the discussion at hand. (it is, however, a sad commentary on the status of some cultures that there are lowlife men running around producing kids with numerous women with no intention of ever providing any support for them)

While we might debate how best to help, we should agree to help as best we can.

agreed, I just happen to think that blindly throwing money at them is not the best we can do. all it does is perpetuate the status quo

HEY, your'e talking about one of my brothers, and one of my sisters plus half of her many offspring.....:2razz:

i think it's pretty funny that people think the ****ing mess bush left behind could be fixed in 2 years. oh well.

Well, it can't if you keep adding crap to the pile.

problem is, if a person makes a million a year he is already paying well over 10k. what the "tax the rich" crowd always fails to consider is this. If you continue to raise taxes on the wealthy, eventually they will say "**** it" and move somewhere else. they have the resources to do so. and then where does that leave us?? who are you going to tax then?

why is it always "we need to increase revenue"???? whatever happen to "we need to spend less"????
Let them move away and take all of their stinking money with them! We are the many. We are the middle class. We could always do fine without the hoarders.

and with that spirit in mind. why don't we evict all the poor and destitute? we would do much better without the leaches of society.
