Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs...

Ah yes, Texas, the South Carolina of the far south. I think Texas is here because every state should have one that it can look down on. "we may have problems, but at least we are not Texas".

What makes this worse is that Texas does not have the 800 million bucks in the bank to have all those textbooks that rewrite history printed. Perry and Company have broken the bank already. It's not really Republicans that are ruining Texas. It is CRAZY Republicans, and there are quite a few of them here, who want to regulate everybody's lives.

I am confused. How does one criminalize gay marriage if marriage cannot legally exist without state sanction in the first place?

Texas actually wants to criminalize same sex people living together, and have it defined once again as sodomy.

So what you are saying is to avoid going to law school in Texas then?

Ahh, cohabitation than.

Everyone knows straight couples only get divorced because of the stress that gay couples place on society.

;)

That remark is, to put it simply, Gibberish.

Pray-tell how allowing two dudes to get married breaks down society?

I believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases.

I believe that heterosexual marriage is destroying the institution of marriage. They have proven to be unable to handle the responsibility, and as such, it should be taken away from them and given to gays.

The funny part is mine is intended sarcastically, but has more basis in fact than yours does.

Perhaps, since there are 100 straight folks for every queer.

That's not what the platform says.

Actually it does. Says it wants to make sodomy illegal again. Which means that it does want to ban what people do in their bedrooms. (hetero and homosexual alike)

That would be incorrect. Somewhere between 33 and 10 straits for every gay.
Not according to the US Census, which evaluated currently gay couples with currently couples. I think your statistics include folks who had done something queer at one point in their lives, but grew out of it.

For example, I smoked pot in high school, but I'm hardly a pot-head.

So break it down more?

Give specific examples with proof (not rhetoric) of how gay marriage would break down society. And please don't bring raising children as that tired argument is moot considering gays can raise children even without gay marriage being legalized.

All this talk of gays is sure breaking down my sense of morality. Let's legislate some, so we don't forget who we're suppose to marry...

I'm aware of that. But since no details are provided of the policy, I defer to reasonableness and would guess that they don't advocate cameras in folks bedrooms. They are against red light cameras as well. It appears to be more of a policy to keep it in the closet.
