Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs...

I don't really see the point of this legislation. If gay marriage is not legal, then a license cannot be granted, which means it cannot be performed anyway. How does making it a felony really change anything?

Because it gives Neo-Cons the satisfaction of locking up the "filthy faggots that are ruining this great nation"

Something like that maybe?

Texas needs to learn that there is no such thing as a state religion. It's time for those Texas GOP douchebags who cannot accept this fact to be removed from office.

Yeah, I've always thought it weird how the "small government" party wants the government to impose a particular set of moral beliefs onto people.

Technically, the couple can still have a ceremony without a license. In fact, making it against the law to have a wedding ceremony or to officiate over a wedding ceremony without the license could be unconstitutional. The government can legally deny people legal recognition of a marriage, but it cannot tell a couple or even an officiant that they can't have a wedding ceremony, because that is a violation of freedom of religion and privacy laws (and probably other parts of the Constitution) so long as the couple is not breaking other laws during the ceremony (i.e. harming/killing animals/people, being nude in public, having sex with minors/animals, trespassing).

Like the song says, "God Bless Texas". Actually, there is a country in Africa that is proposing the death penaltyfor homosexualism. Now that's my kind of country!!!!

You'd make a great addition to their citizenry.

The proposal from Republicans in the Lone Star state makes the following claims related to the party's view of homosexuality:

Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs, Pornography

Ah Texas...

:peace

I believe people like these are not qualified to be in politics. They fact that they are using religious values in government is UNACCEPTABLE and it should land each member a five year jail term. They WILL NOT force their beliefs on me nor will they do ANYTHING that comes ANYWHERE near creating a state-based religion.

The people are all nutbars in need of psychiatric care.

VOTE NO ON TEXAS REPUBLICANS!!!

Really, this thread SHOULD have ended at:
"The GOP supports legislating what can or cannot go on in our bedrooms."

WHich is why the GOP does not belong in office. They need to realize their are limits and then they need to shut their nazi pieholes!

The Texas GOP is the shame of party. It's time for the GOP to divorce themselves from these Texan morons.

If they support governing what goes on in my bedroom, they are anti-freedom, and they are a threat to freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

It's time for Texans to pull their heads out of their asses and make sure this kind of scum does not get into office.
