Helen Thomas tells Jews to go back to Germany

So the Likkud does not recognize a Palestinian state the right to exist. That's what I said.

But it does accept a permanent peace settlement and does not call for genocide, the Hamas Charter not only rejects any permanent peace settlement but calls for the extermination of world Jewry.

Why is it whenever an older female public figure comes up, people have to comment on her appearance?

Oh come on,... these forums are repleat with comments on just about everyone's appearance.

You are being hyper sensitive.

It would be better than replying to Katusha rockets with aerial bombing and demolition of houses, yes.

lol, the Israelis evacuate the houses set for demolition, and use precision weapons, and before they use those precision guided bombs and missiles they warn people in advance and target combatants not civilians. If the Israelis traded Katusha for Katusha rocket there would be 10x as many Palestinian casualties because they don't have the same building codes as the Israelis or the same advanced early warning mechanisms that allow Israelis to make it into their bomb shelters and fortified rooms which they are mandated by law to have, but good to know that you want even more civilians to die.

Valid point. Reflection of our culture I guess. Certainly not limited to older females. Hillary took a lot of hits. Palin's looks get a lot of attention. Linda Tripp was a good example of constant derision....

Helen Thomas is a special case, it's hard to look at her without thinking about her appearance.

I might feel bad for her for it if she wasn't a turd.

It's not "the Pals" attacking Israel. It's militant groups within their population. You just betrayed an extreme ignorance of the situation and exposed how your position is one of emotional knee-jerking.

Um but the Palestinians elected Hamas, the majority of Palestinians surveyed support the destruction of Israel and attacks on Israeli civilians.

Request to any moderator who may be listening. Please ban Jetboogieman. That post was uncalled for and just plain evil.

(nightmares are pending....)

Noooo don't ban me!!!!!

Am a fair person. Not looking for a permanent ban. But for a post like that....thinking a year or two sounds about right.

As your saving grace, you did have the common decency to post her high school graduation picture. If you had gone for a current photo, you may have been a candidate for criminal charges....

After reading too many pages of people going back and forth over what is "proportional" and whatnot I have a single thing to say about this entire thing, and not about that ugly diaper called Helen Thomas.

We have NOT A CLUE what it is like to live under a never-ending possibility of being killed by an unguided rocket. We walk outside and complain if the wind is blowing too hard. We live such a cushy lifestyle in America we forget what kind of hell Israel deals with on a daily basis.

Its the same idea as a school kid being picked on day in and day out. One day he lashes out and shoots up the school. Did he respond proportionally? No. Was his actions justified based on the constant crap he got from his peers? That's up for individual interpretation.

I would support Israel publicly saying that for every rocket fired into Israel 10 2000lb bombs would be dropped on the Gaza strip. That way you leave it up to the Palestinians, not the Israelis, whether or not gaza gets decimated. That way they only have themselves to blame. Proportionality is irrelevant, rockets fired on civilians is an act of war, so responding with an act of war is perfectly proportional.

Israel is among a few countries on this planet who can have hundreds of human rights violations in the open and nobody seems to want to tell them or better yet, do something about it for fear of the retaliation. Other countries in this list include:

Iran
Saudi Arabia
North Korea
Sudan

---------

The difference is that the Israelis are "our" bastards.

I call BS. UN resolutions and the Goldstone Report alone dispel this silly notion.

Good thing you don't live in a glass house. Shall I tally up what the US has done in Iraq and Afghanistan in just the last decade alone? I've never seen even one UN resolution critical of the US.

The difference is that the Israelis are "our" bastards.
You forgot your other squeaky-clean friends such as Egypt and every chummy ME country that sanctions/ignores gender abuse and imprisons gays and lesbians.

US drones continue to kill civilians virtually every week in Pakistan. Funny, I've never seen either you or Helen Thomas get all sanctimonious about that.

The US has way more human rights violations than Israel does, and yet I wouldn't even dream to put it on the same list as the countries you've listed, just the thought of how ridiculous that would make me sound is a good enough deterrence.
And to say that no action is being taken against Israel is to be completely blind to reality.
It seems like someone is letting his bias cloud his judgment.

War has never been nice. There is no sense trying to make sense of it or categorize it. "War is hell"

Why did you leave the Palestinian Authority off that list?

She does have a witch-like, old crone appearance. She has definitely lost her ability to self-censor, something that happens with age often. She's probably getting a little senile.

Gotta love the over-the-topness of comparing Israel to Iran and North Korea. That's almost approaching the spirit of Godwin's Law right there.

Anyways. Certain people speak far more viciously about Israel than about Iran or North Korea.

While I agree with your point, I would like to ask a question. Don't you think even responding to nonsense with a serious reply gives it credibility it does not derserve? If you responded to every nut that agrees with Helen Thomas your fingers would be very weary.

I see, from Wiki, that Ms Thomas is of Lebanese extraction. That explains a lot.

Thomas was born in Winchester, Kentucky. Her parents, Mary (née Rowady) and George Thomas, were Lebanese immigrants from Tripoli, Lebanon;[2][3][4] her father's surname had originally been "Antonious"
