i sort of agree. Obama, for example, is way overpaid. Isn't there a dog-catcher position somewhere he might do a better job?

ohwell. so much for limited government and equality before the law i suppose.

No, man, he said you've made enough. He's the president that means he gets to rule now.

I have to agree with him. At some point you just run out of things to buy. Big house, fast car, private jet, young pretty wife, then what? Then you have to start getting creative. (indoor bowling alley) After you've been creative, you have to get silly. (a second private jet for when you want to fly on a BLUE plane instead of a WHITE plane) Then you have to get stupid. (third or fourth houses you never live in) Then obscene. (million dollar parties for your dog)

Instead of the million dollar party for your dog, maybe we should use that money to pay for some road fixing or hiring some more ($)#ing air traffic controllers because the FAA is so underfunded we've got most of our controllers working overtime AND SURELY NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THAT.

Woops. Got a little off topic there.

So Oprah, Pro athletes, movie stars, should be taxed more or paid less. If the Feds want more of the CEO's salary in taxes, then the others should pay. I wonder how this would affect Bill Gates charity foundation contributions, or the cash available for new investments? As we all know the goverment knows what is best for us.

Despite our dirty socialist progressive tax policy, Bill Gates donated like $10 billion or something recently. For vaccine research and deployment.

I think he'll be ok.

I know this may sound silly, but you don't honestly believe the FAA will continue to make money with the money spent on dog parties; do you? At least the second jet's worth actually goes to Producers.

Salary paid to controllers gets spent on things.

Which is inefficiently allocated because the FAA doesn't respond to market pressures.

What? No, I mean the employees buy things. Cars. Houses. Beer. They absolutely respond to market pressures. This is something people forget a lot about government employees... the money paid to them isn't swallowed into some vacuum, they work for money and spend that money on things just like the rest of us.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I don't think money is necessary at all. All it does is complicate one's life, IMO.
What are the things that really matter in life? Love, family, friendship, health.
Money can't buy any of that.
At best, it can buy you some toys and trinkets that might provide a fleeting distraction from your unhappiness.
I guess money can buy you some physical comfort and leisure, but I think true happiness lies in expanding your comfort zone, and in being useful.
When I look around at people who have a lot of money, they don't seem happy.
A lot of poor people don't either, but it's because they covet the toys and trinkets more affluent people flaunt in their faces. If they had them, though, they still wouldn't be happy, I don't think.

I don't know the answer. I wish money were less of an issue in our society. We're a wealthy society; there's plenty of money for everyone to have everything they need.
I just wish things were different. I wish more people saw things the way I do, but I've come to accept that almost nobody does.

If I want to lean over to the passenger seat in my Aston-Martin Vanquish and do a few lines of coke off a supermodel's tit, that's my business. If he believes some people make too much, he can easily donate his salary. Kennedy did.

Surprisingly enough I agree.

I'm trying to design my investments so I can live off of $35k-50K a year from the interest and dividends.
Truth be told though, I hate money.
It divides families, friends, neighbors and citizens.

I think people should be frugal and not buy as much trinkets and toys as they do.
People should do other things to experience life.

In principle, I agree with Obama's statement. Enough is as good as a feast.

In practice, I don't like the government to be taking charge of this matter too much. I also feel like Obama and his wife are most likely arrogant hypocrites, since their income is quite more than most people in the world make.

Bush was the Decider on issues of National Security.

Yes, he was. And he screwed up every time he decided on something. In fact he left the US with two wars, America's biggest ever debt, and an economic bubble that was ready to burst - something which he had not regulated during his 3 consecutive terms in office and instead decided to ignore.
Obama is far more concerned about national security than Bush ever was. Bush's policies where aimed at isolating the middle east nations, creating conflict and debt, and all round chaos. Obama has initiated the withdrawal of the very troops who have had to suffer because of the Republican policies, YOUR troops, the Bush you "love and admire", and shoring up better security in Afghanistan where we need it most, so we can get out of there quicker.
He aint perfect but Bush was just........aweful. On a totally different level.

One can only conclude Bush was anti-american and anti-western as his policies where aimed at destroying the american republic and her image. Bush has contributed more to the expansion of federal ("central") government than Obama has, or any previous President for that matter.

I have to agree with him.
SHOCKING!

So what, it's their money, wtf do you care?

Nope, you're right on topic. The discussion is on Obama's belief that you only need so much money and how the rest could be "better" spent. 100% income tax on pay over X amount appeals to you doesn't it?

No, it does not. But that's how you see all liberals so it really doesn't matter what I say to you.

No, I don't see all liberals that way. I see all socialist/progressives that think there is a point you've made "enough money".

i have never heard of anyone's last words or of a tombstone bearing the inscription
i wish i had made another dollar

again, Obama got it right

Maybe he's referring to all of the money that they've printed since he has been in office.

given that interpretation, he is certainly right!

Who are you, or anyone else, to edermine what is 'enough' for me to earn?
Who are you, or anyone else, to penalize me for earning more than what you think I should earn?

You REALLY mean to say that you disagree with EVERY decision GWB made?
