Nationally, 60% Favor Letting Local Police Stop and Verify Immigration Status

That's incorrect. The Arizona law allows them to stop any brown person if they have "reasonable suspicion" that they are undocumented. That's the problem. What possibly could be the "reasonable suspicion" other than race?
Think about it.

And BTW Navy...I'm sure you love the part of the bill that allows any joe plumber to file a lawsuit if they think the police aren't enforcing the law. Gonna make a lot of sue-happy plaintiffs and money grubbing lawyers happy in Arizona.......lets hear what you have to say about that.....too.

Here is the full text of the new law..... please copy and paste, and underline the text in the law that supports your contention that they can stop anyone to check their citizenship status "just for the color of their skin"

I think you let other people do your thinking for you and never research for yourself..... here is your chance to prove me wrong.

The part you missed that make that part of the law NOT PROFILEING is the first 5 words in your quote.

FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c).

Do you know what the term "lawful contact" means?

How about fail?

But you aren't, so your opinion of what a naturalized citizen would do is basically a steaming pile of bull****.

Don't get your panties in a bind my far out left wing friend......Its just my opinion and unlike you I bet most naturalized Americans feel the same way Hussein Obama lovers like you excluded..........

I already pointed it out to him but being the ambulance chaser he is he is in a state of denial just like he is on almost any topic in DP.

You realize that if they did what you suggested, practically every person pulled over for speeding would be hauled down to the station because almost nobody carries their passport around just for kicks.

I think carrying and Alien Registration card or and ID card would cover that....They would fit in your wallet............

Get new material, gramps.

Way to add something constructive to the debate my far out left wing friend.......I don't even know why I respond to your stupid posts but until you can say something that makes sense this will be the last.........Have a nice day......:2wave:

Quoting? Backing up claims? Sir, you speak nonsense. I saw it on MSNBC, thus, it must be right.

I know what you mean..... the thing that really bugs me, all of the MSM use the same words in their propaganda, and these idiot libs never see it…. They just parrot the talking points.

Change the dial as many times as you want and the only thing that changes is the picture and the voice.... the words are exactly the same. And no one bothers to see what is in the bill, sound familiar?

This is another good issue for Republicans and Conservatives in the November elections.......Democrats don't like this law because they want the Hispanic vote and don't really care how many illegals are in this country.....Republicans and Conservatives put their political positions aside and want the checks made.

So do the American people it seems........

Nationally, 60% Favor Letting Local Police Stop and Verify Immigration Status

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer last week signed a new law into effect that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 60% of voters nationwide favor such a law, while 31% are opposed.

We have a Constitution that is designed to protect us against the tyranny of the masses. In other words, the fact that 60% of the people are for something that is wrong (Constitutionally) does not make it right. In this, I am not saying this particular law is unconstitutional, I have not yet studied it and formed an opinion... I am just arguing that fact that 60% of the people supporting something does not make it right.

60% of people supporting it doesn't make it wrong, either.

Or perhaps in other words, 60% favor the Tenth Amendment preserving the traditional police powers of the states to control their own jurisdictions, so they are well within their rights to do what they can to solve their problems concerning interior illegal-immigration enforcement issues.

All for upholding the law. Not so much for citizens having to carry around "papers."

Dude! Who doesn't carry around papers, in one form or another? I've been carrying my ID, SS card, debit cards, insurance cards, student ID, geeze.... the list goes on. I bet I get asked for my ID twice a day, at least. In fact, I have C.I.D. on the signature line of all my plastic.

I have to respect someone who goes to the fringe on preserving liberties. I was livid about some of the Patriot Act measures myself. But, I'm sorry. I don't buy it. It's all about scoffing at the law by the illegal aliens, their supporting friends and families and the uber-liberal thinking people.

This "racial profiling" excuse don't fly nor pass my smell test. However, it does appear to give one the "moral highground" when they use that excuse to obstruct illegal alien control. But I am one who believes that claiming the moral highground does not necessarily mean possessing the moral highground.

My conscience tips the scale in favor of protecting and serving the US interests and NOT in the favor of those who try to usurp our laws using any excuse they can grab and hold on to, to avoid enforcing immigration laws.

And let's be honest here. If these illegal aliens were from the middle east or some other 3rd world non-hispanic country, does ANYONE here think these protesting latinos would give a **** about their rights or "profiling?" Pulling the race card is so dishonest. (Especially when it's pulled by a race that wrote the book on modern day racism.)

Racial Profiling Excuse = Caca de Toro.

I hear what they say. But the real gripe ain't really about racial profiling, no matter what they say. This is all about Uncle Antonio who snuck in under the wire. I hate it when people piss in my hair and try to convince me it's raining.

That term "racial profiling" has taken on a four letter word meaning. The issue is Mexicans illegally crossing our border into our country. There is no evidence that whites, Chinese, Australians, Italians, red heads or African Americans are the ones doing this. If we want to stop Mexicans from illegally entering our country we have to look at... OMG... Mexicans!

If The Fugitive wasted his time looking for two armed men would he have ever found his wife's killer?

While I think this law is un-American, unconstitutional and will be over turned... calling it "racial profiling" dilutes the real problem.

If I were Mexican and a citizen I would have no problem in carrying my papers around with me if it helps to solve the problem of illegal aliens.......

Lame argument because you aren't. I suspect that you would feel quite differently if you were being stopped, detained and harassed simply because your skin was a darker shade of tan.

How does anyone look like they're doing something illegal? There are behaviors that people commonly exhibit when they're committing a crime and/or trying to hide the fact that they have. How do you think probable cause is ever applied? We've had probable cause caveats forever in our laws, why all the uproar now?

Because this law doesn't require "probable cause" to detain and search.

That was easy....you didn't even have to read further than the second paragraph.

LEO can stop, detain and search for citizenship if they have "reasonable suspicion" that the person is an alien.

Tell me WHAT could possibly be reasonable suspicion that someone might be an undocumented mexican or other latin American....hmmmmm.....without racial profiling. :doh

I think it is YOU who are letting others (cough....Fauxnews.....cough...cough) go your thinking for you.
READ the bill.

Let's go back to the part of the law that actually says that. I tried searching for it, no tomali. Mind helping?

I already pointed it out to him but being the ambulance chaser he is he is in a state of denial just like he is on almost any topic in DP.
Sorry Navy....but you were quoting the misinformation that FOXnews gave you that said the law required probable cause. Are you backtracking from that and now admitting that you were once again mislead by the Fauxnews?

Mind helping me out and highlighting the relevant portion?

It helps if you don't pretend to be obtuse.

Read the text. It states that upon "reasonable suspicion" that the person might be an undocumented alien.

Think for a minute. Please give an example that doesn't involve racial profiling that would give a LEO "reasonable suspicion"?
