People make comments on content of posts and/or on the references. When you make a post obviously lying about the facts you open yourself up to corrections. I'm sorry if that bothers you. If you didn't make such posts people wouldn't get on you about them.

You are right. There are certain subforums which I avoid because they are patrolled by True Believers(tm) (the US Partisan Politics and Political Platforms subforum is a good example) who are immune to rational argument. However, for 90% of the people here, you can debate them.
