“Our plan has four pillars: requiring biometric Social Security cards to ensure that illegal workers cannot get jobs; fulfilling and strengthening our commitments on border security and interior enforcement; creating a process for admitting temporary workers; and implementing a tough but fair path to legalization for those already here,” wrote Graham and Schumer. “We would require all U.S. citizens and legal immigrants who want jobs to obtain a high-tech, fraud-proof Social Security card.”

The national ID cards would include a "unique biometric identifier," according to Graham and Schumer. Some of the likely candidates include finger prints, retinal scans, or even the layout of a person’s veins in the top of their hand. Employers who refuse to "swipe the card" would face "stiff fines" and "prison sentences," the Senators noted. “Our blueprint also creates a rational system for admitting lower-skilled workers,” they added.

Oh yea, nothing fascist about this. All in the name of security and other fascist bull****.

Obama & Co. Want National Biometric ID

Personally, I have no problem with this. The Social Security cards are out-of-date and can easily be forged. It's a point of verification, not a method to "track" your every movement. Once the national ID cards carry GPS transmitters, then we can start worrying about Big Brother....

They tried it under Bush, but at least Bush had the common sense to back off. I don't think Obama will. Looks like Orwell's prediction is finally arriving, albeit 26 years late.

They are going to try to slip this in with the new immigration amnesty bill.

The second worst part of it is the guest worker program, that is why the Republicans are supporting it.

One Nation...under surveillance.

You see, Obama's a pragmatist (cough cough), and very realistic. He knows that in order to control a population, you must know where they are at all times. If you just let them run around all higgledy-piggledy all the time and do whatever they want, it's just chaos.

Oh my god! A card that is yours that proves its yours. Next they'll want to put our names on SS cards!

You want to stop illegal immigrants from taking our jobs? This is what that looks like.

Is there anyone still left around who thinks that Obama is different than Bush?

Yea the birthers, people that think he is making us defenseless, and those think that he is sucking up to Muslims while at the same time continuing the Bush policy of bombing them and killing them.

I don't understand what the problem is with an ID card that can't be forged. It's not like the card announces your position or tracks what you purchase.

Oh, but it does. A satellite will track your every move so you can be transported to a FEMA camp to await a death panel.

I don't buy into the "can't be forged" thing. Can't yet be forged, ok. But regardless, it doesn't need to amass my information in an easily read card. Biometrics and RFID are not reasonable things to be placing into government issued ID. We have enough already.

Nope, no can do. I was against a national ID under Bush. My position remains the same. I doubt they'll make them fire proof.

This always makes me think of the movie Demolition Man. A central computer knew where everyone was at all times and pretty much what they were doing.

Aw ****.

*BUZZ*

You have been fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality standard.

Um, yeah. Thanks but no thanks on the in-body surveillance.

But how would that happen? Will this card transmit a signal to a satellite or something? No. It will simply match you when you present it the way you do now to get a job or whatever, like having your picture on a card would. Big deal.

The scariest part is that you actually believe that.

National biometric ID? Let the state's DMVs issue them. The infrastructure is already in place. I see no problem at all. What's the big deal? It might help identify people that don't belong here. The more I think about it, it's a great Idea.
It's not a GPS tracking device, it's just an ID that's harder to fake.

Biometrics are fingerprints and photos. Immigrants already have biometric IDs. Not a big deal.

So, immigrants are forced to have it, makes it ok for full citizens to have it too? Love that logic.

Remember, give this administration an inch, they'll go for many miles.

Everyone already needs an ID. Might as well make them better.
National IDs are a great Idea.
This administration? It's an idea thats time has come. It might make some ilegals think twice about coming here.

How many states have refused to go along with the REAL ID act, already a law ?

How many times did the Federal government have to blink and extend the deadline for compliance ?

Same thing will happen this time.

A lousy idea is a lousy idea , no matter which Party is pushing it.
