Stockton cop earns $100K in Overtime!!!

Then you probably shouldn't have an opinion on it.

How about no.

A lot of the local police are camped on the main highway through my small county, I travel it daily and see them issuing tickets regularly.

Just because I can't produce specific budget revenue reports from tickets doesn't mean I don't, at least, see what I think is over enforcement of traffic violations.

Sorry, but seeing some cops out on the highway doesn't tell you squat about whether they are overenforcing anything or whether they are doing it to make money.

It tells me enough if they camp it on a regular basis.

Just because I don't have specific numbers on the amount of money it generates does not take away from that point.
I live in a rural place and the largest town has 32 officers, so when I see 3 to 4 of them enforcing traffic violations on the highway on a rotating schedule.
It lends to the point that there may be over enforcement.

No it doesn't.

Yes it does.

Maybe. Why don't you go find out instead of speculating? Speculating can get you in trouble.

OT is time and half per hour.

Why do you doubt she worked the hours?
that's 1,691 hours extra. average work year is 2080 hours. that equivalent to 72.5 hours per week of work. quite a bit if it was really worked.

The average government employee is more highly trained and skilled, doing a more difficult job, than the average private sector employee.

Agreed, I dont know many private sector employees that can work for NASA or the IPCC :rofl

Not paid that much. And I actually doubt she truely did work those hours.

Cops make their money in side work and overtime. Side work which involves concert security etc, they can easily make $500 in one night. 72 hours a week for a cop is common, especially the new officers.

But remember, That $100 grand in overtime is before the taxes were taken out.

I agree with overtime. My ex-fiance worked an extra 10 hours a week and brought back less than $15K

They werent allowed to work more hours i THINK. Not sure on that part.

Anyhow for someone to make $100K in overtime is BEYOND insane. That is raping the community. And you know what.... working all those hours (if she really did) means she worked more than 12 hours a day for six days a week...... for a YEAR... with no off weeks. Total BS man.
That greatly impairs the ability to do their job. That IS unless they were doing all fluff work. And if THATS the case they dont deserve anything over $50K for ALL of their work.

Im not sorry to say but the tax payers were screwed over and there is something rotten going on at the police department. Its a total disgrace!!! :soap

10 hr days aren't that big of a deal.

Lol! Hold on a second now. We don't even know how much of that 100 grand was from private businesses. The media is very deceitful when it comes to reporting law enforcement.

10 hours a day is easy, unless it is physically hard.
For 2 years I worked 10 hour days with only 2 days off in a 2 week span. That is 120 hours in 2 weeks, and the job was an hour from home, so add in an extra 24 hours in travel time. That was at a Nuclear power plant in 1985-96. I was taking home $1000 per week.
During a ship yard overhaul while in the navy, I worked 12 hours on, 12 hours off, 7 days a week. THAT got tiring....

Its 12 hours NOT 10 hours a day:roll:

Look folks, my friend who is a cop along with every other person I told the article to thinks this is bullcrap.

Aint no way she worked 12+ hours a day, 6 days a week for a year.
If she did, she still doesnt deserve a EXTRA $100K paycheck.
Im sick of these unions raping the public of our money!!!!
None of them deserve pensions! They need to pay at least for some of their health care AND their salaries are sometimes farrrrrrr off base. Like this.

Now anyone who disagrees with me, fine. But when i become ruler of America Im NOT having you over. :? I will find some other tasks for you to do. :tomato:

BEGS THE QUESTION, what do you get paid? and why?

My bro has been working 12 hour shifts five days a week for the past year and a half because the power company he works for is short staffed. It's do-able, but not pleasant.

Really? Because, ya see..... that really brings the topic of discussion off the topic we are discussing. Although I was wondering who would ask.
As a consulation I will tell you my favorite show is 24 and my shoe size is 11 (generally) :2razz:

OK... ok ok ok ok..... please do this.... call up your local police dept or even Stockton.... ask for the Sgt. on Duty.... then ask about hours worked for overtime. Most depts they wont even ALLOW you to work more than 2 days a week in overtime because it effects their performance on the job for their normal hours.

So do that! Then come back and bake me a pumpkin pie. (Im hungry)

I worked for a police department for five years. I think I mentioned that earlier in the thread. I know guys who worked 70 hour weeks on a regular basis if overtime was available. I was exempt, but I regularly worked 60 hours a week because I can be kind of obsessive about work.

Most departments don't have that kind of overtime to pay their officers, but some officers will work all they can get.

Now, go bake your own damn pie.

p.s. Better yet, make friends with a black person so you can come tell us all about what your black friend thinks about racial issues.
