We are a Christian Nation....

One way you can tell my left wing friend that in this country the Christian God is mentioned everywhere from our money to the Pledge even in the lobby of the SCOTUS....Prior to convening every morning the Congress led by a Christian minister say a prayer before beginning work......

It is ridiculous to say this is not a Christian nation.......

Where on our money does it say "Christ"?

Do we pledge allegiance to one country under Christ?

Where in the lobby of the Supreme Court does in mention Christianity?

And you are DEAD WRONG about a Christian minister saying prayer every morning in congress. They use a variety of prayers.

So once again...Navy....you are wrong.

It is completely and utterly ridiculous to try to claim that this is a "Christian Nation" when the very defining documents of our Country clearly state the opposite.

He's never let being completely wrong and proven so stop him before, so why are you expecting a different result now?

Christians, Jews, and Muslims share the same God. God on our currency wasn't uniform until the 1950s. The pledge added under God in the 1950's as well. It does not say Christian GOD. Also the US Constitution goes out of its way not to say God or Christ in it.

What are you talking about with the lobby of the SCOTUS?

I've aware there are still racists in this country. It's just not as prevelant as some on the left like to make it out to be.

Really? See my thread about.

Yes, I am reading it. You do understand what racism was like in the 60s, right? Do you really think it's as bad as then?

We are no more a Christian nation than the PRC is a "Buddhist nation".

We are a Christian Nation, And 78% are in unison of the fact. This is a democracy and in a democracy the majority rules.

78% believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead, not 78% believe America is a Christian nation. Don't be purposefully obtuse.

And no, we are not a Christian nation. Christian laws do not govern our citizens.

You are talking about a belief and opinion, not fact. You are also demonstrating the appeal to popularity logical fallacy. It used to be that the majority of people thought the earth was flat. They were uninformed then, just like the 78% are uniformed now. So, that about destroys your "poll" theory. Got anything else?

Actually the U.S. is a Republic, and primarily so that your sort of argument isn't allowed.

Christian laws govern this nation. This nation was built on Christian law and not much has changed since. The founding fathers were Christians that welcomed all religions. The US government has always been dominated by Christians and still is today, and will be tomorrow.

Denial is a bitch.

Really?! Damn. Do you think if I take back my blended fabric clothing I'll still be arrested?

We are not, and never have been, a democracy.

Christian laws do not govern this nation. Many ideas of right and wrong came about before the bible. Not all the founding fathers were christian let alone the congregationalist christians that exist today. As for you 52 out of 55 number. This is a number bandied about by Wallbuilders to talk about the signers of the declaration of independence. The number is rather suspicious considering there were 56 signers. More revisionist history

we do operate as a representative democracy, however.

The UK is a representative democracy. We're less ruled by democracy than that. A concept which, more often than not I'm thankful for.

Thank goodness we can still eat shell fish!!

Which would imply that this isn't a Christian nation. :doh

In terms of what the populace subscribes to, yes it does. It just doesn't make it a theocracy.

Well, I personally don't subscribe to the belief that because a majority of the people in this country are Christian it is therefore a Christian nation. I also still find it rather hilarious that some Christians are bragging about this fact, which really isn't considered very Christ-like behavior. What happened to being humble?

We are a nation that most of the inhabitants follow christianity, that's for sure. However, as a nation, we do not, and have never, endorsed any specific religion or denomination as the "official" national belief.

By that standard, we're also a White Nation.

Oh, and a Fat Nation.

It's sad the way Christians go out of their way to try to make themselves seem important no matter the facts. It's some sort of inferiority complex, I assume.

Nation is an abstract notion regarding the commonalities the majority of the population shares. It was and is a christian nation.

If the demographics would dramatically change, as they can and perhaps will in the coming decades, I would say that this nation was for a great part of its existence, a christian nation, but now is *insert Islamic, Agnostic, Athiest, or whichever*.
