We are a Christian Nation....

None were in the name of Christianity......This thread is about a Christian nation my left wing friend so God name will be mentioned...

Try again.......

Wasn't talking about mentioning God's name. I was commenting on your throwing stones at others in God's name.

I am a sinner, I cited from the bible.........It was actually the son of God I paraphrased......If that is uncomfortable for you to bad..........

Oh, well, I guess that makes it alright!

You didn't know?

All one has to do is believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and they can run around sinning all they want to.

Its no wonder there are so many Christians.......

Wow that sweet love of Jesus is just flowing through you, innit?

If this isn't a Christian nation then why is 76% of America Christian?

If this isn't a Christian nation then why is there over 250,000 Christian churches in America?

If this isn't a Christian nation then why has the US government always been dominated by Christians employees?

If this isn't a Christian nation then why were the founding fathers Christian?

If this isn't a Christian nation then why is it that you take advantage of the Christian holidays (Christmas)?

??

By your own logic....since 75% of this country is caucasian...that makes us a "White Country".

If this isn't a "White-male nation"....then why were the founding fathers white male?

If this isn't a "White Country" why are there over 250,000,000 caucasians in this country?

I've been showing evidence of a "White" America and i think it is YOU that should be proving other wise. You're the one that's in denial, not me.

Oh...and BTW...there are a lot of people in this country that don't practice "Christmas".

Pretty sweet deal, removes all personal responsibility!

I'm surprised this religion thing hasn't caught on more than it has! ;)

You can't just "go on sinning." Biblically speaking, turning to Christ means turning away from sin, we will still struggle and sin but God forgives us. Those who have not repented are not saved and thus are not Christians. The Bible says many who call themselves "Christians" will really be sent to hell. God is merciful and willing to forgive all sin, but to be forgiven we must first repent ;)

I thought that was the whole purpose of the thread.

Got two things to say, and two only.

1. Christians are not perfect. If we were capable of living perfect lives, we would not have needed a Savior to perform an act of substitutionary atonement.

...BUT...

2. If your religion hasn't changed you, you need to change your religion.

This thread is laughable. This country is far from a Christian nation. This country was not founded for religious reasons, it was not founded by highly religious or religiously focused men, and it was founded with plenty of ideals that any real Christian should have found abhorrent.

It's true that Christianity is the largest religion in this country, but the way I see it, we are moving farther and farther away from religion in America. Many on the religious right would agree with me, the difference is I see it as a good thing.

Just like every issue we face in America it boils down to our cultural devide. Areas that are more urban, more diverse, more afluent, more liberal, tend to view religion as less important or not important at all. It's easy for me, a bleeding heart, pro gay marriage, pro choice, socialist living in Boston MA to think religion has no place in this country. I can tell you that at least as high a percentage of my friends are atheists, agnostics, or non christians.

Imagine if I said that about the whole country though, how would someone from a rural, conservative area react? Probably much in the same way I am reacting right now. John Edwards was right about one thing, there really are two Americas, and there always have been.

Don't you just hate it when people try to talk about religion on a thread entitled "We are a Christian Nation?"

Its worse when the guy who started the thread about it being a christian nation complains about being drawn into an argument on religion.

Damn... I forgot the repent part.

So you believe that Jesus died on the cross for all our sins, you go out sinning at will and living how you want to, as long as you take 2 seconds to half-heartedly informed the lord that you are sorry for sinning and you won't do it again (sounds like a kid talking to his daddy) and then you continue on with your life.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to repent before you die, just for good measure.

Ya know, CC, 78% of Americans might find that rather insulting. You don't hear me talking about Jews that way do ya?

I think you should infract yourself.

I decree that my post was appropriate.

It's good to be the king.
