For me the most relevant sentence in this article is the one hilighted below:-

As one observer gloomily puts it in Moscow Komsomolets, the main lesson to be drawn from this tragedy is that the authorities and people exist separately.

"People should rely only on themselves, because the government is unable to protect them," it concluded.)

For all the manly shows that Putin has displayed, it comes down to this, people do not trust their Government.

Strange how this type of distrust ranges worldwide?

Not really the majority of the people are the same worldwide. Trusting the government is a very hard thing to do because they do not represent the majority of the people.

Also this will be forgotten by the Russians' just wait.
