According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel.

“I know that … regular ongoing use of planes was something that was looked at,” says one person with direct knowledge. “I can’t speak to how serious those inquiries were.” Both sources say Steele considered purchasing a plane outright, or buying fractional ownership in one, through a company such as NetJets.
Steele’s spokesman, Doug Heye, did not deny that such discussions took place, responding that the RNC never had a “plan” to buy a plane. “I don’t know what somebody might have discussed or might not have discussed.”
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNC’s last three months of filings.

The RNC explains that Steele charters jets only when commercial service is unavailable, or when his tight schedule requires it. “Anytime the chairman has taken any private travel has been a either to a route that doesn’t exist or because of connections and multiple travel to where he just wasn’t able to do so,” Heye said. Yet Steele’s office repeatedly refused to explain in specific terms the circumstances of the February charter flights.

Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

Whatever amount of money he spent, it is for the Republican National Committee to adjudicate.

If you as an individual have donated to the GOP,m then I suppose you may have an axe to grind.
If, as I rather suspect you have not donated to the GOP then quite honestly it is no ones business other than the GOP.
It is not so far as I am aware a taxpayer funded organization.

I have donated to the RNC in the past. They called me last fall after the election and I told them to let me know when they start fielding more conservative candidates and I would be happy to make a donation then. They haven't called back.

RNC head Michael Steele is now being investigated by his fellow Repubs for paying some $2K to visit an adult sex club where stage acts included lesbian bondage scenes and such.

As Jay Leno said tonight: "The GOP is supposed to be the family-values Party. If the Republicans are doing this stuff, what in the world are the Democrats doing"? :rofl

....after all, it is the Republican party is it not? Michael Steele is just a Republican party animal.

In so far as the Republican party says it is the party of fiscal responsibility and yes, family values, when the party is caught spending in such a lavish manner, it is the business of the electorate. If the entity charged with finding and supporting Republican candidates does not abide by party principles, what does that say?

A 2009 spending spree has left the Republican National Committee (RNC) with its worst election-year cash flow this decade.

The largest GOP party committee has $8.7 million in the bank heading into an election year with 37 governors’ races, a dozen major Senate contests, dozens more in the House and an all-important redistricting cycle on the horizon.

Said one RNC official: “It is very troubling, and the thing is, most people don’t understand this. But it is really troubling.”

The RNC had $22.8 million in cash and no debt when Michael Steele was elected chairman at the end of January, but has since seen its cash on hand drop to less than $9 million at the end of November.

Over the previous five months, while governors’ battles were being waged in New Jersey and Virginia, the committee saw its cash reserves drop by a full $15 million. Through November, the committee spent more than $90 million last year, which is nearly $20 million more than the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

A bit more:

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) lost both races, but saw its cash on hand climb to a debt-free $13 million. That’s not a whole lot better than the RNC, but the DNC began the year in much worse fiscal shape, with $5.6 million in cash and $5 million in debt.

To me, this is pretty much "dog bites man" news. Both parties waste money on unethical and wasteful crap. The only thing I noticed about this instance is that no taxpayer money was used, which is all I could give a damn about.

If you don't like what the Republicans are doing, don't give them money. I don't. Conversely, if you're liberal/Democrat and you feel a need to open your mouth about this, prepare to eat some very rotten humble pie, and dodge the slings and arrows of outrageous hypocrisy. After all, your party does it even more...and you've probably turned a blind eye to it.

I'm just glad Republicans can appreciate some good girl on girl action. That Idaho politician had me worried for a while. Always made me think the Dems had the upper hand because at least JFK was banging Marilyn and doing lines of coke off some lingerie model's tit. If you're going to cheat, cheat with hotties and do it right.

HA I can say whatever I want. One of the benefits of not being democrat or republican. And not living in America

From a purely independant viewpoint. You have a party staunchy against gay marriage, even some members saying that it should be illegal for people to be gay at all.

And they're spending party money on lesbian bondage clubs. Come on, + given all the Republicans who have turned out to have either cheated on their wives or have been in the closet for years... all while preaching high and mighty moral values. That **** is ****ed up.

They have to. For some reason, Americans hold their politicans to a higher standard, one that is borderline impossible to maintain. Hell, you can't have a 30 second conversation with me and not hear me drop the F-bomb. But Biden says it once in a non-inflammatory manner, and Republicans/conservatives drop their collective jaws like they just saw him club a baby seal.

Because of the forced morality Americans plague on their own and their elected officials, you can't have a candidate that is human, flawed, and real. You have to have some sort of artificial image on what you want - someone that encompasses all your strengths and none of your weaknesses. It's devised to fail from conception. Both parties and all politicians try hard to fulfill their vices and shortcomings privately and out of the ever-watching eye. I don't blame them one bit. If you don't have some sort of release, you get nuts. Hell, if you took away all my porn and told me I couldn't tenderize the meat anymore, I'd f'n stab ya.

Going back to my earlier argument, all I care is that taxpayer money is not used. If you believe your party spends all their money legitimately - regardless of affiliation - then the axiom is right. A fool and his money are soon parted.

First of all it hasnt been proven yet...he denies being there...So I will reserve my opinion until I KNOW whether its true or some leftwing liar made it up.
Yes you can say what you want..but you need to be prepared to "HEAR" what someone else wants to say also.
Being against homo marriage has nothing to do with one republicans actions...Cheating on your wife is more normal...then having abnormal same sex :)

We're witnessing the beginning of the end of Steele.

All I'm saying is this. Its ultimate hypocricy and proves once for and for all, that people shouldn't impose their values on other people if they can't hold themselves up to them. Sitting there on family values councils while you tittle your secretary or send naughty messages to your male staffers. This isn't a left or right wing attack. It's a common sense attack against those who believe they have superior moral values... then they do not.

Are you trying to bring Partisan to this thread?

1. Its Fox news and if they report something bad about the GOP you can be sure it actually happened.
2.
The Republican National Committee say it's getting back nearly $2,000 that it reimbursed to a member for a night out at a bondage-themed night club in West Hollywood

The GOP admitted to it.

I disagree using your beliefs..theres no sense having any laws or morals because EVERYONE screws up one time or another...and because everyone screws up no one can have any legitimate beliefs on restraints...that is nonesense

Homosexual marriage is wrong on many levels..and mine are not based on religion

That was not my point at all. I don't want to get into the Homosexual marriage argument but I wil just quote a good political cartoon which read.

Wife to Therapist: My Husband thinks gay marriage is destroying the sanctity of marriage... but personally I think its his infidelity, gambling and drinking.

Its all do as I say, not as I do.

Common sense must prevail. I'm attacking the individual here, not left and right. I attack the asshole who sits on the family values council, and harshly judges the homosexual couple who just wanna get married to share their love, while boasting about his extra-maritial affairs. It's common sense to know that murder = bad. Cause I don't see the difference between the judge who murders, while sending murderers to jail. Then the man who judges others to be wrong, while he does equally as wrong.

You're proving what we all know about you already. No need to make obvious posts about it.

I attack the asshole that says hes for homosexual marriage just for votes...and like I said...everyone makes mistakes..because someone cheats on their wives doesnt make them a phony for STILL being against homo marriage...one is still a NORMAL act the other is as abnormal as it gets...

Man and I thought Pelosi's booze budget was bad.

I was once encouraged by Michael Steele taking over the top GOP spot but he has proved to be less than forceful and not much of Conservative at a time when we need someone with leadership skills and the brains and guts to get things done and inspire people to action.

Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

This is just wrong. Democrats are the party animals. Republicans are supposed to hide it, then when caught, proclaim that they are not gay.
