“This is a bad bill,” he said. “That’s a political determination and a practical one.”
The states that say they will sue are Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter said Monday that he and other Republican governors are already meeting today -- just hours after Congress passed a $940 billion health care reform plan -- to discuss how they can repeal the legislation.
"If Congress goes ahead with this financial and economic insanity, which is unconstitutional, then we'll sue," Mr. Otter told The Washington Times' "America's Morning News" radio show.
And we all know what is going to happen
The lawsuits will fail, and the state governments will complain and refuse to take part, the federal government will withhold money for medicare, medicaid and the new program. The states will capitulate as they will want the money

The governor of Idaho signed a bill last week blocking federal mandates requiring individuals in his state to purchase health insurance.
Some 38 states have either filed or announced their intention to file similar legislation, according to the American Legislative Exchange Council, which opposes the health reform bill.

Even Texas had best learn when it is beaten.
As others have said, this lawsuit will go nowhere.
It's a shame he isn't a socialist, right? :dohI note that Obama's job approval rating is at 50%. Better than Reagan and Carter and within polling accuracy points of Clinton and Nixon at the same point in their presidency.

Dubya was way ahead, but that was just 6 months after 9/11.
To read DP on this subject as a foreigner, you'd be led to believe that Obama was the most reviled President in history and that his every initiative was less popular than Swine Flu. How come the polls don't reflect this? It appears the country is in favour of the passing of the bill...

I bet there are a lot of state legislatures wishing they had the right to appoint senators again ...
Get enough States together and they can change the Constitution (Amendment) to outlaw Federal Mandated Health Insurance.

2/3rd's of 50 States looks to me to be 33 and a third States....... that's less than 38!
3/4's of 50 States looks like 37 and a half States...... that's also less than 38 States.
Any one here still think the States will be defeated in their bid to out law this POS?
Thank you Justice JuJu....
Texas can do damnwell what they please as can most other states, under the proper circumstances and THIS is one on 'em!
Libs OBVIOUSLY take the trampling of the Constitution lightly.. I assure you Texas and a couple million other folks in the nation do NOT..
Even Texas had best learn when it is beaten.
As others have said, this lawsuit will go nowhere.
Texas also reserves the right of secession, which would make sense if the federal government wants socialism rather than freedom. I can see why Texas might want freedom...
What it ultimately boils down to is will Texas forgo Medicaid and medicare payments from the Federal Gov.?
Taken that the Gubernatorial election is just around the corner and that Texas has an enormous number of retirees, no I think you will find that this little push back against Federal Gov. will not amount to a hill of beans.
Does this reserving of the right mean that there won't be fighting involved?

Well put. This is the bottom line. Funny how the so-called "conservatives" don't have a problem when it comes to the funds that will be wasted on this little bit of doomed to fail theater.
(Like they actually care about wasted tax dollars! :liar2)
