I was referring to the fact that if we keep on with the current system and its exponential rise in healthcare costs, it won't take long until healthcare is enjoyed by only the elite few.

Yes... which is truthless hyperoble is born of desperation.

Except for the fact that the numbers would support what I am saying.
You do understand don't you, the exponential rise in the cost of healthcare over the last decade?
You understand, do you not the fewer and fewer people in this country are able to afford healthcare?

Or are you clinging to those right-wing talking points?

And I guess you understand the advancements that have been made over the last decade... You know.. the ones that were brought about by the "evil" free markets.... that are certain NOT happen under Government run healthcare?

You seriously want to rollback all the advancements in medicine gained over the past decade?

Show this to be true, to the extent that you claim

Funny that you say this....
And then, this.

Such irony.

You must be living on the moon if you have no idea what is going on with healthcare in this country. Even most GOP supporters admit that the healthcare system is in a crisis mode, even if they disagree with the healthcare bill. I guess others just stick their head in the sand.

From the Unites States Department of health and human services:
National Healthcare Expenditures
Excerpt:
From 1970 to 2008, health care spending in the United States is projected to increase from $74.9 billion to $2.4 trillion, an increase of over 3000%.1

Of the many different challenges facing American Healthcare, the rising cost of healthcare is the paramount problem in our system. The exponential increase of the nation’s total healthcare expenditures over the past decades and the projected future trajectory of these costs will continue to have devastating consequences for the nation as a whole. Importantly, figures regarding national healthcare expenditures include the costs associated with both public and private healthcare, meaning healthcare’s rising cost cannot be blamed on one form of the system but rather on the system as a whole. The cold hard truth is that as a nation we lead the world in healthcare spending, yet only receive a system whose quality ranks 37th in the world (WHO 2007). By examining the rise in healthcare costs to the nation as a whole, the trends we find are disturbing and without change, it only stands to get worse.

In 2007, America’s healthcare spending alone would represent the world’s seventh largest economy.
The United States currently spends more on healthcare than on food or housing. 2
By 2015, it is projected that US health spending will double from over $2 to nearly $4 trillion per year, going from 17% to 20% of GDP. 3

Why would regulating the insurance industry have any effect on research development. You don't believe that the insurance companies are the ones conducting the research do you?

Translation: You're just going with the party line.

Compare and contrast this with rising costs in other areas. Make sure to control for population increase as well as the advancement of technology.

Given our third-largest population, this isn't much of a surprise, or of much significance.

Wow. That's crippling.

Watch out there, chicken little - the sky is on the way down.

This "health care crisis" scare is nothing more than an excuse for the government to take over 20% of the US econonmy, just like AGW is an excuse for the govermnemt to strangle the economy -- as such, your truthless hyperbole fits right in.

I guess its obvious that you fit into the latter category that I discussed above in post 157. :doh

What's -more- obvious is that, as evidenced by your inability to create an effective response to my post, your 'grasp' of the situation is limited to the party line that you follow - just as I said two posts ago.

Imagine where liberalism would be, if not for the useful idiots.

I don't care if your a Republican, Democrat, Conservative, or Liberal The Obama Administration is trying to bankrupt this country with a socialist health care program that will get in your pocket book big time........You retired military guys on Tricare Plus or for Life will lose it or have huge premium increases..Medicare will be cut $500. Mil The deficit will balloon....There is much more......

Please go to the below site and voice your dissatisfaction with this plan.........It only takes a minute...

Somehow, these threads shouldn't be started by a man who will be sucking on the Government's healthcare teat for the rest of his (your) life.

Anyone else see a conflict of interest here?

What "effective" response would you expect to a post that offered nothing other than mere denials that a problem exists?

Obviously, it you cannot see that there is a serious problem than anything that anyone would offer in terms of a response would be met with nothing other than further denial from you.

So what's the point? :2wave:

This is a lie.

My post asked you to show that the information you provided was significant, especially in the terms that you used, and belittled the signficance of two of the 'fact' you presented.

Your response? Ineffective - but not a surprise, given the noted depth of your understanding.

So, in the context of the claim you made, that 'only the eflite few will have health care':
-Compare and contrast the claimed 3200% increase over almost 40 years with rising costs in other areas. Make sure to control for population increase as well as the advancement of technology.
-Show how America’s healthcare spending alone would represent the world’s seventh largest economy is meaningful, given that we have the world;s third largest ppoluation
-Show how a 3% gain in GDP share over 7 years meaninglfully supports your claim.

Note that I do not expect that you will actually try to do this.

Obviously, it you cannot see that there is a serious problem than anything that anyone would offer in terms of a response would be met with nothing other than further denial from you.
Even more obviously, if you cannot address the three points, above, you do not have sufficient grasp of the situation to have an infomed opinion regarding same, and as such, any positions taken by you are baed on your adherence to the party line, sheer, abject, wanton ignorance, or both.

Imagine where liberalism would be, if not for the useful idiots.

Absolutely. Going into law school I thought I wanted to go into entertainment law or something where I would make a ton of money.

I actually could have done so, but decided that I didn't want to live my life working in a large law firm pushing paper for 18 hours a day.

I am very passionate about my work in that I get the satisfaction of knowing that on a small level I am able to help people out. on a larger level, hopefully some of the work I do will have a beneficial effect on society.
You could do better to adopt a more Conservative philosophy and become a prosecutor.

Honest Prosecutors are an important part of the criminal justice system and I have a lot of respect for the good and thoughtful ones that operate within the system.
However, what I knew about the DA system really turned me off which is why I went into criminal defense.
Many DA's offices are very cut-throat. People get promoted by stepping on their colleagues. They are not very congenial offices. Also, there is little autonomy within DA's offices. Most DA's have little discretion on how to handle a case and have to get supervisor approval for every thing that they do. I've never been an answer to authority kinda guy.

The problem is...you are not content to draw one salary off the government. You were happy to say that you triple dip off the government.

That will never happen.....He would rather try and get people who are guilty of murder and rape off.......That is who makes all the money..........Can you say OJ Simpson............Disgusting........

My job is not to get people off. My job is to ensure that the government not bring someone to trial without sufficient evidence of their guilt. If the government fails to do their job, that is either because there was insufficient proof to begin with or the government messed up the case.
We exist to keep the government honest.

Go for it....just make sure that they are applicable. Most of the time you try to post ones that really aren't relevant.

I love a good lawyer joke though.
