Pretty much. Next stop:Jerry Springer and company for 15 minutes of fame...

Makes me grind my teeth.
that's because of the subject matter. You are idealistic. Why I am fascinated by this is that normally I feel the way liblady and others feel about someone who twitters very personal life experiences, but for whatever reason, I'm not disgusted by this woman's twittering.
I feel as if, even most pro-choice women realize that abortion is regretable, and very personal and private. Most women don't make the decision without a great deal of personal anguish. It SHOULD be taboo to flaunt it like this, no matter how valid you think your reasons are.
There should be some subjects that are just too personal to advertise to the world.
My wife rolls her eyes and feels this way whenever one of those commercials comes on, in prime time, telling women how to have a "happy period"! She says these things are all sold in Rx stores so, WTF do they need to be on tv for?
I say it's to inform potential customers about their new products.
Would you feel different if this twitterer actually educated another woman and helped her to make a serious, personal decision?
You know, pregnancy is completely preventable these days. I knew I didn't want children after my son was born. I had a tubal ligation.
While I believe that abortion should be legal, that doesn't mean that it is commendable. I personally find the practice reprehensible and morally repugnant, and "demystifying" it (i.e., IMO celebrating) it is in no way a positive.
Nor do I consider the comment quoted by you to be particularly stupid. There are permanent means of preventing an unwanted pregnancy. The twitterer should have availed herself of one of them, and been more responsible with her reproductive health. A person who thoughtlessly creates life only to kill it makes me sick.
Interesting thing to think about ... if the right to abortion is found in the right to privacy, but the person getting the abortion waives her right to privacy ... hmmm ....she didn't bother to keep her choice personal, thoguh.

also, who relies on twitter to make a serious, personal decision? My wife rolls her eyes and feels this way whenever one of those commercials comes on, in prime time, telling women how to have a "happy period"! She says these things are all sold in Rx stores so, WTF do they need to be on tv for?

I hope you know that tubal ligations are not 100% effective. Women have gotten pregnant AFTER tubal ligations.
Does that mean you disapprove?
The comment is stupid. Hysterectomy is not done for birth control. That leaves tubal ligation which is not 100% effective and which is discouraged for young women whose families may not be complete. Do you know that her unwanted pregnancy was created "thoughtlessly"? Many women seeking abortions were using birth control which failed.
also, who relies on twitter to make a serious, personal decision?
I just want to say that for the record, I am pro-choice. My choice for myself would be to NEVER undergo an abortion. I couldn't live with myself if I did that.
i don't have any issues with the woman's choice. wouldn't you ask your doctor for advice instead of relying on anecdotal advice?I agree with you for the most part, but if I wanted to take the RU-486 and was afraid of how painful it would be, her descriptions about what she was feeling could impact my decision.

i just can't shake the feeling that airing this in public, on twitter, no less, is a vile thing to do. maybe i'm wrong, but it's not something i could do.
Let's suppose it was a man that was twittering spanking his son, would you feel any different?Huh? What is that supposed to mean?
ultimately, it only helps the anti-abortion side, which should be the majority of this country, if demographics keep up.It's a celebration of death. I find it morally repugnant.

Poll Shows Youngest Americans More Pro-Life on Abortion Than Baby BoomersThe demographics aren't changing...
Abortion
And like I said...while I find the practice morally repugnant, I also believe it should be legal. I don't believe that the sort of women who would kill their offspring should be having children.
Is it your contention that this woman did all she could to prevent pregnancy? Did this woman have a tubal ligation?
Birth control, when used properly, is effective 99% of the time. Tubal ligation is even more effective than 99%. I would contend that the majority of abortions are not performed on women who are responsibly using birth control.
I have no idea, YOU were the one accusing her of being irresponsible.
.SOME birth control is that effective. Some women cannot use hormonal birth control, and tubal ligation is for women who are certain their families are complete. We can never know how "responsibly" a woman is using birth control, but the statistics are that about half of all women seeking abortions were using it. A 1% or 2% failure rate results in a LOT of unplanned pregnancies
Yea, twitttering an abortion is soooooo responsible. You are soooo right. yahhhh.I have no idea, YOU were the one accusing her of being irresponsible.
