Since it seems to be the popular thing to do around here, I'll point out that you should probably change that "independent" tag.

I'm not really sure what you think the danger is here. Is the President going to take away your lolcats?

He's just extending the military-snoops onto civilians. :)

I believe this has less to do with protection against attack than it has to do with limiting free speech and the free exchange of ideas that run counter to the Obama doctrine.

When an idea that runs counter to the Obama plan reaches a critical mass he can shut down that site or speech he does not what to reach the masses.

I know many of his disciples will say this is crazy talk but go back and look at his and his radical followers track record and statements.

He and they are making claims that the Tea Party movement are some how radical neo-cons and and cannot be trusted because they promote things that have never happened.

Every radical attack has come from the Left and the thugs like SEIU not the Conservatives.

It is in their interests to demonize everyone who opposes Obama's agenda and to have the ability to shut down the truth and claim it comes from outside rather than from us who are trying to prevent the Socialist/Marxist take over of our way of life.

I love Obama Conspiracy Theorists but wish they would stick to that forum.

This is what PBO will use to sieze power in 2012.

I am having an incredibly difficult time figuring out how the two issues relate. Maybe it is just because I am familiar with how cybersecurity experts have been (for years) wanting the government to smarten up with the issue, as well as skeptical of the federal government being competent enough to correctly deal with this issue, but I think this is probably the most paranoid and idiotic thing I have seen someone say with this issue.

Obama should never have the authority to censor anything. Too suggest otherwise would be supporting the end of the 1st Amendment.

This bill will NEVER pass the SCOTUS.

Did we do this, already, in our country's history?
I recall the FBI maintaining lengthy spy-files on people who they believed were communists.

*gasp*

I'm an Americanist. Oh noz!

It's ALWAYS a "conspiracy" until the cattle car leaves the station.. then it's something ENTIRELY different.. have many Jewish friends?

I USED to have many members of my family, unfortunately they were transported in cattle cars, this is why I rail against such government control.
We the people elect government to manage the affairs of our nation, we do not elect them to control us.

Yeah, even though page 4452 says something very different in blue print. Then congress, along with everybody else, will most likely get somebody to read over it quickly and brief them or probably just skim the pages to get a general idea. Then we end up signing over major civil liberties.

Im not saying im against this bill. I am saying that congress needs to be careful when signing over emergency powers to governments and should create legislation to limit the size and reduce the risk of nefarious business in such bills. Just makes everything safer, easier to read, and much more transparent!

Undoubtedly this will be cobbled together under strict secrecy, presented to Congress as a 5000 page Bill and then pass through the senate with an inordinate number of earmarks attached and ultimately signed into law by that great messiah who swore he would change the way business is done in Washington. Hah

Kinda interesting how Presidents get more and more "emergency" power, but the "emergency" never seems to be over.
