Canada's Women's Hockey team celebrated a much deserved gold medal on Thursday after beating perennial rivals the U.S. 2-0. Members of the team, returned to the ice some 30 minutes late and held a kegger held a tasteful celebration with a bit of beer and some champagne. This being an Olympics on home soil, you think the IOC would cut us a little bit of slack. After all, the City of Vancouver and Canada have rolled out the red carpet for these overpaid Swiss bureaucrats.

From our Vancouver Now page:

he International Olympic Committee will investigate the behaviour of the Canadian women's hockey players who celebrated their gold medal at the Vancouver Games by drinking alcohol on the ice.

Several Canadian players returned to the ice surface at Canada Hockey Place roughly 30 minutes after their 2-0 win over the U.S. on Thursday night.

The players drank cans of beer and bottles of champagne, and smoked cigars with their gold medals draped around their necks.

That is ****ing awesome. the IOC and anyone bitching needs to go pound them some sand. This is the nature of hockey.....


From our beer league tournaments, (we won an A division AC tourney 3 years in a row), right up to the stanley cup and now these women in the olympics....

That she's drinking an American Beer after winning the gold medal for Canada?

That the black haired girl looks like she's may actually be rather attractive and a hockey playing female?

Come on, they need Moosehead or Molsen or something.

I don't really see the big deal. I guess someone can take issue with them doing so on the ice, but it was their ice so I don't really have a problem in the least with it.

It is unique to be celebrating with beer after getting the medal as don't recall any other medal winners doing so. Nor do you see other Olympic medal award ceremony with the children next to the atheletes. Nothing wrong with that I suppose unless they start bringing out their spouse, mother, cousin and 3rd grade teacher.

That is what the IOC head said. It isn't the fact they were celebrating with beer , it was the fact they did it on the ice in public. If they had done it in private, like the locker room they said it would be a none issue. I guess that isn't a message they want to send at the Olympics.

The only crime committed here was drinking Coor's instead of LaBatts, but that should be considered a felony in Canada. LOL.

I would love to party with those chicks. I'll have to be careful, though. I'm 110 and I bet they're all wired for 220. I might throw a breaker.

Not really an import as it was most likely brewed up here by Molsen

Especially as Moslen and Coors are owned by the same company SAB Miller

It took me a minute to catch that, and then I laughed.

The Canadian women played a great game and deserved the win and the celebration. They also(as did the other teams) prove that athleticism is much more beautiful than anorexic models or silicone.

Stuffy Bureacrats... What's REALLY got their goad is if they strip them of the Gold for their behavior.. they'd have to give it to the American Team! Talk about a conundrum!

All Team Canada has to do is say that the women should not have been drinking in public. Because that is the issue not the fact they were drinking, but doing it in public.
