Obama campaign arm focuses on talk radio - Ben Smith - POLITICO.comThe Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America has quietly launched an initiative aimed at making Obama supporters' voices heard on the largely conservative airwaves.
"The fate of health reform has been a focus of debate in living rooms and offices, on TV and online — and on talk radio. And since millions of folks turn to talk radio as a trusted source of news and opinions, we need to make sure OFA supporters are calling in with a pro-reform message," says the introduction to the online tool.
The online tool presents users with a radio show discussing political topics, to which supporters can listen live, and the phone number for that station, for when health care comes up. It also offers tips for callers and talking points on the issue.
Lol?
Seriously? Talking points provided so the Dem Callers say the approved things? If I were a Liberal I'd be offended beyond belief by the arrogance of this? "Hey, we're gonna need your help to get out the message! Here's a list fo radio stations in your area and here are the shows you should call! (the list is cool, I might use that to see if there are any shows I've been missing...) Oh and by the way, when you call in, here's some talking points you need to use so you stay on message!" Really, are liberals that stupid they need talking points to discuss an issue?
The part that should offend any left leaner should be the assumption you are TOO STUPID to call in and say the right thing. Actually, the left DOES believe in the nanny state... I guess if I were a lefty I wouldn't realize I was being treated like an idiot...
Still, this should settle the debate on which side thinks for themselves and which side of the idealogical debate needs to be told what to say, how to say it and what to think.
I guess coming from Obama the "great community organizer" this shouldn't be a big surprise.
