Tiger: A thousand apologies

he doesn't owe the public an apology.

He does if he wants to continue a career. But if he doesn't care about a Golf career, you're right, he doesn't.

He said he that he had worked hard all of his life and that he thought he "was entitled to do what he did"......well, Ive worked hard all of my life too, and I think I'm entitled.......but for some reason 18 of the hottest women I know don't think so........go figure

no, it might be the smart thing to do, but he doesn't owe us anything.

lol......those women are just as responsible as tiger is for their bad behavior.

i was disturbed by how long he hugged his mum for, it was kinda creepy, makes you think maybe he hadn't touched a woman in while

I'll never understand why these public mea-culpas are necessary.

He can apologise to his wife and family privately. This public contrition is all about his marriage to his sponsors.

And there you have it. There are expectations...from current and potential sponsors, and more importantly, the press, who play a major part in influencing how those sponsors will decide to support Woods.

The mainstream media drives this show. If it weren't for them Woods would quietly deal with his family and go right back to playing golf. But viewership needs to be generated, and the media outlets know there is an eager viewership. So Woods is screwed. It is public apologies like this, or suffer the consequences when he finally does try to get back to work.

This thing is really stupid, isn't it? He did what most men would do given his enormous wealth and ability to attract sexy young women. If not divorce, his wife will punish him enough should they stick it out. Why does society feel it needs to pile on?

I'm with the Dali Lama on this - who's Tiger???

Maybe Summer's Eve douche products will pick him up.

I don't care about him, but I don't accept his apology. Those who apologize because they got caught aren't genuinely sorry.

....nor are those that "apologize" with a prepared statement and refuse to answer questions.

I did view the apology online, it was repetative. I think he's sincere actually. Other than that, I don't really follow golf and have never really cared one way or another about Tiger Woods. He's not the first celebrity to cheat on his wife, but I guess his endorsements were predicated on him being a squeaky clean role model?

He certainly doesn´t owe me an apology but, nonetheless, I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he is remorseful and wants to do the right thing. I´m not going to arrogantly look down my nose at him and cast "stones" against him while hypocritically overlooking my own shortcomings. Besides, I am hopeful that, when it´s my time, the good lord will be easier on me and, for that matter, on some of you than you have been on Tiger.

i put it on youtube

Honestly, I love it for one of these guys to have some guts and say "I took a vow of marriage to my wife, not the general public. I owe no apology except to those whose trust I broke. Now why don't you go foam at the mouth over Britney some more to distract you from your pathetic empty lives".

:allhail

...

I just hope he gets back out on the golf course. His personal shennanigans have no bearing on what a tremendous golfer he is.

He's an idiot for apologizing. He should have just waited a while for everything to die down, then announce his return to golf. If he played well, most people would forgive him instantly.

The mob is fickle...

Yeah - I don't get this whole "appologize to the public" junk, either. . . I think it's absurd.
