Paterson Rumors Swirl

Business Insider reported tonight that a New York Times story on a simmering scandal involving New York Gov. David Paterson (D) would drop on Monday with the governor's resignation to follow.

Paterson's office has since denied the report but has acknowledged that a possible story is coming soon.

Oh geezzz .... bet Spitzer wished by now that he just stuck it out.

NYers must be pretty fed up with political scandals. First the gov, now the new gov ... and wasn't it just last summer that one party in the legislature was locking the other party out of committee rooms, etc?

So, it's definitely a sex scandal, yea? I've heard Paterson is kind of a horn dog.

What is it with politicians? Has it always been like this but was covered up better in the past.

I mean it seems nobody can keep their pants zipped. It seems epidemic.

Please tell me that Madeleine Albright is not involved in this.

 God, I hope not !!! :2razz:

As to your question? I have NO freaking idea. My guess is that it's always been like this but was covered up in the past.

He has already admitted to having affairs while married

and the rumour of a love child has been around for a few years

That's true, Lord T. So, I'm left wondering, what could he have done now that could prompt resignation rumors? On the one hand, it seems like a sex scandal wouldn't do it, b/c of the things you mentioned. But, on the other hand, it seems like it MUST be a sex scandal, b/c of the things you mentioned. :2razz:

I guess we should find out today or tomorrow or so.

It's been this way with men of power since the dawn of time. Powerful men attract women. Nothing new under the sun.

What really baffles me is the idea that someone must resign over a "sex scandal". The only thing that should force someone to resign is their inability to do the job they were elected to do. An active sex life is generally not a hindrance.

it is when your lover lives in argentina.

****** How about Location ????

****** BTW - Just for you Feminist Hypocrites - Bill Clinton did not have an affair with Ms.Lewinsky. It was the sexual USE of a low ranking Female subordinate by a Man of Power which is usually totally denounced by Feminist types. That precise termonology would have been used IF it had been a Republican President. The Ladies stayed aboard in early 1998 because HRC went out and got the message across to the "Sisterhood" as to what was Really at stake he OR - "If he Goes I Go" That did it.

To protect the integrity of our country I think every male candidate should be castrated.

So did the NYT ever break a story on him, or was it just hype?

See, it's the woman's fault.

Nothing yet. Paterson was just talking about it in a press conference about the coming snow storm. Here's a story from 4 minutes ago:

Paterson assails ‘feeding frenzy’ of gossip
February 9, 2010 at 5:13 pm by Casey Seiler

If you thought a press conference to discuss snowstorm preparedness seemed like a rather mundane topic to rope in Gov. David Paterson this week, you will not have been surprised to hear that the vast majority of the Q&A was devoted to questions about what the New York Times might or might not be reporting about him. The real blizzard under discussion, it turned out, involved deep drifts of loose talk piling up around the Capitol.

Paterson, who said he sat down with Times reporters today for an interview, seemed to relish the chance to push back against almost two weeks of speculation that a bombshell story was in the works.

It is a hindrance when enemies of the state have evidence that they can use to blackmail you with.

Why don't people understand this? Character and personal responsibility isn't just important, it is required to serve in a position of power.
