January 21 - San Diego, California.

He deserves to be arrested for rooting the wrong team...:rofl

I saw this video earlier this week. Definitely a "respect mah authoritah" arrest.

It does look bad hogtieing a fan and hauling him out. But did he not bring some of this on himself?

First of all, why do out of town fans need to be the most vocal animated fan in an arena? Have seen this over the years. Even gone to an away game and seen our own fans just going nuts in the crowd. While at home they would be much more subdued.
I think there is a little commonsense missing here. At an away arena where there are thousands of opposing fans drinking alcohol and you decide to make a spectacle of yourself , what do you think the reaction is going to be?
If the cops hadn't came in when they did there would have been eventually some beers flying in on the guy and everyone around him.

Then to be further idiot he decides to resist them. Come on, what do you think the 8 or 12 cops are going to do. "Let him go boys, he is just too strong for the 10 of us".
good grief.

There might be more to it than the video shows. There is some missing time between when he is cheering and the cops are cuffing him.

Yeah um you are so wrong it isn't even funny. Its people like you that the police can get away with practically anything. Apathy is a bad thing.

Resisting arrest is the dumbest thing a person can do. It pretty much gives the cops the right to hurt you. Like pointing a gun at one gives them the right to kill you.

It shouldn't be that way especially when there is not a good reason for the arrest such as this case. If he was a wanted criminal or had a warrent for his arres then it would be understandable for the police to use force. But the force they exihibited in the video just shows that cops are nothing but cowards who rely on superior numbers to abuse innocent people.

If I was being arrested for not doing anything wrong, I would resist absolutely and if it wasn't for the simple reason that they can get away with anything, I'm sure you would as well. If you don't then just continue to play dead.

A rational person will not resist. When a guy resists he is putting the cops in danger and they have the right to protect themselves which may result in hurting the guy. He may have been innocent of any crime but is guilty of resisting arrest. So the only ones that win when you resist arrest is the cops.
Arresting someone does not mean they are guilty of anything. The court decides that.
If you resist, you will go to jail, even if you didn't do anything before.

We don't know if this guy deserved to be arrested or not. The video doesn't show it all. It could have been disorderly conduct, public drunkeness or failure to follow a legal order.

Resisting arrest can easily lead to assaulting an officer and that could mean some hard time.

Did you see when the cops first came up and asked him to quiet it down? No, there is some tape missing here.

He was trying to antagonize the crowd whose team was losing. You don't have to be Einstein to figure out what was going to happen next. What little of the clip you see one doesn't see any Charger fans acting out against him yet.

This may be a hard concept for you, but it is often better to be pre-ventive than post-reactive.

I will grant you this, but I think one could make some pretty good inferences based upon the Chargers fans who are defending the arrested Jets fan.

So why were those fans defending the Jets fan? Seems like they'd have been more than happy to see him led away if we apply your logic.

They were probably his buddies. Friends on opposing sides go to games together all the time. Especially here in Viking/Packer Land. I would have to see the missing footage before I could judge if the cops had probable cause to arrest him. I do know, it will be a lot worse for him because he resisted.

That's true, I hadn't thought of that.

I doubt if the Charger fans would have defended the obnoxious dude. I wouldn't have.

I would like to see those fancy panties San Diego cops try to arrest a Boston Red Sox fan in Yankee stadium on game day. Half of those pigs look like they haven't seen a salad since graduation day. I hope the Jets fan sues for a billion dollars.

The video isn't clear enough to make out the jurisdiction, but to me they look and act like suburban cops.

Now, if this guy was in Philadelphia at a Jets Eagles game it could have gone a lot worst for him. Here security was painfully slow.

Sometimes fans are just plain stupid with the addition of liquid courage. Had a hockey player friend of mine who told me about a fan harassing him and team mate in the penalty box. The fan kept it up and was leaning over the top of the glass when he spilled into the penalty box with the two players.
It was a wrong move on the undersized fan.

Part of that has to do with the fact that Philly is an ebullient cesspool of human sewage.

He probably could have sued if he hadn't resisted arrest.

That wouldn't have necessarily prevented him from winning a civil case if he so chose. There isn't a whole lot to sue on though, unless he sustained some sort of serious and/or long-lasting injury.

True. It didn't look like the cops were using excessive force. They could have thumped him a little more if they wanted to.

yeah the whole "What am I being arrested for?"...."Resisting arrest!" Nice, real nice.

The cops should be fined and suspended for a brief amount of time for illegal arrest.

Like that would ever happen ...

I had a cop tell me that all "good" cops have at least one complaint by a civilian open in Internal Affairs the majority of the time.
