Palin again shows courage along with Bristol. I love that she is taking this stand and standing not only by the baby's right to a long life but standing by her daughter who made one of the most common but life altering errors in judgement a teenager can make. Sarah DEMONSTRATES love, compassion, acceptance, strength, love of family, support and HOPE with this photo in the link.

Well, this is bound to stick in someone’s craw. Pretty much everything Sarah Palin does seems to, so it might as well be a bold pro-life statement that gets her into trouble this time.

She and daughter Bristol are featured on the cover of the latest issue of In Touch Weekly which hits news stands today. I like the simplicity of the mother-daughter message:

“We’re Glad We Chose Life.”

Good for her and her daughter.

I'm glad it was their choice to make.

It is a good story, but some how I think this descision was a little easier for her daughter than most.

why is this a story? palin is not the first mother to stand by her daughter after she gets preggo

same could be said for millions of other mothers/daughters...what makes the palins special?
Because she was a VP nominee and now a possible Presidential Candidate around this time in 2011.

so because she was a vp candidate this makes her and her daughter more special than millions of other mothers and daughters? sorry, she is no more special than others that have gone through this. being a vp nominee doesnt give her any special insight.

It's a story because they are models for Pro-Life.

She is not pro life. That is rubbish,
If she was pro life she would have done the best to give her baby the best chance in the world for a good healthy life.

A female having a baby at age 20 the odds of having a child with Down's syndrome is 1 in 1500.
At age 35 the odds are worst with 1 in 350.
At age 43 they are 1 in 50.
At age 45 they are 1 in 30.

She had her baby at age 44. That is totally irresponsible. It is not worth the risk having a child at that age.
That child will never have one-tenth the life she has had. It will have 20 times more medical problems than her.
Having a child at that age is worst than smoking right up to delivery.

Please get rid of the overused prolife crap.

So at what age do you think the govenment should require forced abortion?

.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

All the focus is on Bristol and her mother.

Why not focus on the loser redneck heck of a pathetic sperm donor that fathered that child and how much of a classic 'failed male role model and classic absent father figure' he's being? Instead of stepping up and being a man he's stepping down and being a douche licker - very classic, he joins the club on that one.

Palin's doing what mother's tend to do: support their children eventhough they've erred.
Bristol's doing what pregnant teens tend to do: have kids too early and lean on Mom and Dad for support.
And the sperm donor is doing what sperm donors tend to do: Run amuck, set a bad example and fit the classic 'fatherless' figure that most teen-fathers tend to do.

At least they're all on track.

Now, will the baby grow up to mimick the bad example of his father? I hope not.

because he is just a kid himself who was forced into fatherhood.I imagine most familys dont have the conversation of " you have to have the child because its important to my political ambitions".

Yeah, I understand it. . . it's a common immature reaction to having to deal with the results of your decisions (or lack of).

I do believe he expects rational people to make responsible decisions when it comes to having children past a certain age.

Well cant a what 17/18 year old be forgiven for being immature?

She chose life?

Does Palin have financial problems?

Does Palin have issues with day care?

Does Palins daugther have to figure out how to fead herself and now the baby?

I didnt thinkso.

Where did I mention abortion? Just thought you would try to change the posting to your likings.

So you tell me if it is worth the risk of having a child at age of 44 when you know the odds of having a child with Downs Syndrome is 1 in 40? Is it worth it? Comparing the odds at age of 20 being 1 in 1500.

No , you don't abort the baby. You do give the child the best life you can just as you do all your children. Of course now she has become a big advocate for disabled children. Show me where she was such a big supporter before her baby was born.

Not once has she came out and talked about the risk of older women having children. But then that doesn't really surprize me about her.

A 17 or 18 year old shouldn't be immature. They can join the military, vote, drive and in some places drink so I think it's not very extreme to expect one to be responsible and accountable.

We give way too much slack, these days, for those who are well of age to be making wise adult decisions. . . and we wonder why we have Bristol's exact situation going on - too much slack, escapes and bailouts.

What ticks me off about him is that he *was* there and *now* he's not - he abandoned that baby after he decided that he was going ot be a father.

That's scummy.

You are railing about women over a certain age having children. If it is so wrong, shouldn't the govenment prohibit it? Would you rather women be sterilized upon reaching a certain age?

I'll answer your question. No, government prohibiting it will not solve the problem. The government needs to educate the public on the risks they are taking. Afterall there is a 39 out of 40 chance the child will be normal.

So answer my question. Do you think a 44 year old female should take that kind of risk on her child?
