Top Economic Adviser: ‘Of Course’ Recession Isn’t Over

By that logic, every job is socialism because there uis compensation in them all. Do you know what socialism is?

I think being an all volunteer service kinda kills the socialism argument.

No, that is nothing like what he is saying. You did not notice that key word "state". Apparently the one who is shakey on what socialism is is not hatuey...

When I receive a Christmas bonus, that's socialism? How about a company car? Or, if I go a trip on company business and the company pays my way, that's socialism? If I get compensated by the company for purchasing personel protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, etc.; that's socialism? If I work on an offshore rig and they feed me and provide me with medical care while I'm there, that's socialism?

Is socialsm voluntary?

Is your company "the state"? What part of that is complicated for you?

Technically, the military isn't the, "state", either. The military is a seperate entity that is maintained by the government to insure national security. Providing basic needs for soldiers is maintaining a healthy fighting force. You were in the Navy, you oughta understand that. Were you forced to join the Navy? When your enlistment ended, were you forced to re-enslist? After you reached a certain rank--E-5 in the Army--could you rent an apartment off post?

I lived 'off post' as an E-3.

The state is who pays for, controls and maintains the military.

Rank was not a determinate to living off base.

He will never admit he supports certain aspects of socialism that pertain to his liking.

I thought you had to be an E-5 to live off post unless you had dependents and post housing was available. I never wanted to live off post when I was a private, so I admit I wasn't exactly payin attention to that regulation...:rofl. But, it was a long time ago when I was a private, too. Not sure when you served, so maybe there was a regulation hange between my private years and your's.

Even if he did or did not what does that have to do with his comments?

Iill attest to his actual knowledge of how the military works and more importantly, why it works the way it does, for one. For two, it will show whether, or not he was forced, by the government to serve in the military and three, if he didn't serve in the military, then I must ask why not since he obviously supports a socialist style of government.

If he's going to swear up-n-down that the service in socialism, then he must prove to us why he thinks that.

So, it has everything to do with his comments.

A list of logical fallacies, and nothing of value.

No... no it doesn't. You are just attempting to get personal because you cannot summon the words/truth necessary to admit defeat. When the government owns and operates the means of production, that is socialism by definition. You don't like? To bad:2wave:

In short, you don't really have a clue how the military really works, you just know what you've heard from people who already didn't know what they're talking about.

If the military is socialism, why do officers have to pay their own way? They on't get free food and uniforms. Why is that?

The officers uniforms? What is wrong with you and the way you think/argue? The government.... the government! owns and operates the means of production. That is socialism apdst. Just admit it and be done.

Means of production? The military doesn't produce any goods.

Means of production in regards to the military encompasses operation. Who currently operates and funds military operations? Your government. Will you admit your error yet?

Neither does a barber or beautician. If the state ran salons, would they be socialist?

I never said tht the government didn't fund the military. In fact, I even pointed to the Constitution saying that it's the government's responsibility to do so. Doesn't make it socialism and sure as doesn't make me a hypocrite as you've been eluding to.

Yes, they do. The produce goods and services. They produce coiffers.

By that definition, the military produces security.

No, they provide security. There's no way to deny that one.

In the same way a barber or beautician provides styling. You can keep twisting and squirming, but you are not going to have any luck here.

And that's a service that they provide for a price.

You're the one that's not going to have luck denigrating my service and suggesting that I'm a hypocrite. That's how this discussion started and you jumped right on that band wagon.

How this thread became about me, I'll never know.

I am just showing the flaws in your argument. It's not about you, it's about the flaws in your argument.
