How low will he go? Obama gives Japan's Emperor Akihito a wow bow

Please show that bowing to a foreign head-of-state is an act of treason. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, it isn't a act of treason. Because a lot of president do it, and the founding fathers did it too.

Scorpion89 is an overly partisan Conservative who likes to post with lots of hyperbole and little facts. Which is funny, because that's usually what Conservatives claim Liberals do.

Article II Section 4 of the Constitution

Section 4.
The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

This does not answer my question. Please prove that bowing to a foreign head of state is a treasonous act. And, this time, try to think before posting.

No not one single President before Mr. Obama ever Bowed to the Empire of Japan or the King/Queen of England.

While your correct that some of are Founding Father did Bow to certain Kings John Adams when he was the US Embas. to England Bow not once but three time when he first went to the Court of King Charles and Ben Franklin as the Embas. to France prior to the US becoming a Country Bowed but but neither were the President of the United States.

Bowing to a King is consider a High Crime have you erver read any of our Founding father words on the subject if not I suggest you do before you post.

Well since it seems allot of you need to go back and read what our very first President stated about Bowing. Since that time no US President has Bowed to a So-Called Royal Head of State pre the orders of our very first President.

What Mr. Obama did was an act of Treason and he should be charged with Treason but no one in Congress Rep. or Dem. has the Gutts to stand up and call him on it.

Got a link?

All I found was...

President George Washington would bow to guests at presidential receptions to avoid physical contact and the tradition lasted through the presidency of John Adams. Washington would rest one hand on a sword and the other holding a hat to avoid the remote possibility of anyone forcing a handshake! Thomas Jefferson ended the tradition of “bowing” by shaking hands when greeting people.

The section of the Constitution you posted says that the President will be impeached or removed from office if he commits treason. That does not prove that bowing is a treasonous act. Again, this is yet another simple concept you fail to grasp. PLEASE PROVE THAT BOWING TO A FOREIGN LEADER IS A TREASONOUS ACT.

Me just popping in to ask..

"WHO ****ING CARES IF HE BOWED JESUS ****ING CHRIST"

k, as you were arguing over silly unimportant bull****.

Protocol is not unimportant, and the rule that American Presidents do not bow to foreign monarchs dates back to our foundation when we declared that all men were created equal. Individual Americans might bow before a monarch, but never our Head of State.

Of course, in this case he is bowing to a monarch who is bowing to him in return. But this is a point of American honor that previous incidents have indicated that our President does not understand.

I am not the least bit concerned with the President kissing foreign dignitaries. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Nor am I concerned with Ambassadors bowing to monarchs, which is, as I believe, standard practice. As far as I know, Heads of State do not bow before others even when visiting them in their own courts-- with the exception of those cultures in which bowing is practiced between equals.

Thanks for clarifying

There's also a notable difference between kissing a man's cheek and kissing his ring.
