They All Look Alike: MSNBC Mistakes Jesse Jackson for Al Sharpton

Or indifference. You have been wrong in every single predicted reaction of those on the left.

Well this isn't a prediction, it's a hypothetical. And the Dems would be outside Fox with pitchforks and torches. But if you meant that indifference is what the media, the NAACP, and the plethora of other liberal backed organizations are doing right now about MSNBC's faux pas? Yes, that's indifference.

All race-baiters look alike to me.

No, not all of them. Unless you all were just faking it. But, since FNC didn't do this, we'll never know. Will we?

He's gonna cut Contessa's nuts off.

I think the term "race parasites" is a better term to describe Jackson and Sharpton or maybe "race parasites who feed off the color of their own skin".

I wonder what the Libbo reaction would be if this happened on FNC. Can everyone hear the screams of racism? Incompetance? Agenda driven? Blah? Blah? And blah?

Do They All Look Alike? FOX News Shows Wrong Black Congressman Indicted

Last night, FOX News reported on one of the biggest corruption cases in U.S. history, but the news channel apparently thinks all black Congressmen look alike. While telling the story of Democratic Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson's indictment of 16 counts of bribery, the channel showed the picture of long-time Michigan Congressman John Conyers, also a Democrat but certainly not in any trouble

Fox News' Bigotry Exposed Again [VIDEO]

Apparently, as far as Fox News is concerned, all Black congressmen look alike.

No one on the planet would have expected Fox News' coverage of Democratic congressman William Jefferson's indictment on corruption charges to be anything less than gleeful but it also turned out to be more than a little insidious. The video to your right, produced by The Talking Points Memo, shows how while the on air personalities drone on about Jefferson's indictment, footage of House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers is played. Now, probably Fox News would plead that was an honest techinical mistake on their part if they were ever challenged about it. But I think it is fair to assume the network wanted to not-so-subtly make Conyers and Jefferson seem linked and maybe for less than discerning viewers--appear to be the same person. For all the attention Fox News receives for being partisan politically, I don't think remotely enough attention has been paid to their consistent and shameless racist content.

Talking Points Memo |

As you know Rep. Bill Jefferson (D-LA) was indicted today on 16 counts of public corruption. See this link for TPMmuckraker's coverage of the case.

But apparently Fox News Channel can't tell one African-American member of Congress from another, in this case Rep. Jefferson from Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee ...

EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS OUTRAGE:

"Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated. I am personally offended by the network's complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology." - House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI)

I wonder if John Conyers, alternet, TPM, etc. are equally outraged at this blatantly racist action by MSNBC.

Nothing.

It was a simple script, TelePrompTer mistake. Had nothing to do with race.

Talk about a non-issue.

I remember working for a newspaper and a Senator had passed away and they ran the story with a pic of a living Senator. I think old white guys all look the same too.

I can't remember the names of 3/4 of my professors, so I feel you.

This threads should have been posted as a hoax, claiming that a Fox anchor had made the gaff. Then we'd have had some harmless amusement.

Let me know when MSNBC starts putting "(R)"s next to every democrat that gets in trouble.

The Liberal double standard is hillarious.

You have to look pretty deep into this to get the idea it was race-related.

I'm just not seeing the controversy.

They did once (I don't remember if the person was in trouble or not), but Maddow apologized and corrected the issue.

I'm going to be totally racist here: white people tend to ignore black politicians who claim to be "reverends".

I'm sorry, it's just the truth.
True. I also ignore white "reverends" that do similar things.

I just substitute "Outrageeee!!!11" for the name.

Today, after a minority was questioned by police because he matched the description of a suspect, the Reverend Outrageeee!!11 led a march toward city hall, leading his followers in a chorus of "We Shall Overcome"

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are to black people as Perez Hilton is to gay people...

except Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson seem to have delusions of authority.

In high school, me and a black freind who had (and, I'm pretty sure still has) political aspirations made a list of things black politicians should and should not do to court the white vote. This was years ago, but it went something like this:

1) Do not EVER be a "reverend"
2) Don't get perms
3) Don't wear shiny suits
4) Don't rhyme
