GOP Lawmaker's Graphic Sex-Bragging Caught On Tape

I never claimed any elected officials were 100% in agreement with their party, voters, and claims.
You claimed he was a hypocrite because of his stance on family values.

"First of all, hypocrisy of any kind is a massively appropriate target."

Did you not write that? What hypocrisy where you targeting if not his stance on family values?

Further, not being in agreement with your constituents is not the definition of hypocrisy.
no, but running on a platform claiming to do things that you don't believe in yourself is.

The most shocking part of this article was there was a republican from California in office.

You need to pay attention. My very next sentence said my post contained none of those charges.

Second, you're getting closer to a definition of hypocrisy, which btw has nothing in common with what you posted first.

And, if this guy campaigned on a family values campaign, then he deserves every drip and bit of charges of hypocrisy. EVERY BIT.

Frankly, I think it would be hard to find an elected republican NOT ripe for charges of hypocrisy if caught in an affair (never mind two). Modern republicanism rests on family values and traditional marriage almost exclusively. It is one of the three legs to the stool of the Reagan coalition, as we are told again and again and again.

When Republicans (generally) quit telling everyone else what a 'family' properly is, then they will quit being charged with hypocrisy when caught sticking their weenies in a non-spousal orifice.

Good line sir, well done!

Isn't that my point? That most politicians don't necessarilly practice what they preach. Why should we care as long as they get their job done and actively pursue the things they claim to pursue? Why do you focus on their personal lives when it has nothing to do with their job? (Except in this case there is cause for concern because of a conflict of interest. But its not because of sex, its because of the women's affiliations)

Hypocrisy gets under my skin every time.
Sex doesn't.

As long as some dude or chick isn't telling people what they can and can't do in the bedroom, and who they can and can't marry, I don't care if they lie to their spouses.

Hypocrisy will get me every time tho.

But re: this story -- what got me was the power whoring. A lobbyist! .... yea, that's a big problem for me.

So if someone is cheating then they should not talk about family values even though it would help them get re-elected if they did? Why would anyone purposely put themselves at a disadvantage like that? No one plans on getting caught btw.

except for those it doesn't get every time.

But re: this story -- what got me was the power whoring.
this is a problem with our gov't system, not individuals.

.

When politicians stop lying to get elected they will become something else entirely.

It's funny that this happened to a republican, such a hypocrite because they totally discourage adultery and preach morals.

If it had happened to a democrat there would be no big deal because they totally encourage adultery and could care less about morals.

:doh

You all seriously need to get your head screwed on straight.

That was sarcasm, correct?

Weird. Sarcastic yet accurate.

The old adage must pertain : what you hear here, stays here !
Is that so difficult ?
Is it now against some law for a man or a politician to have a private life ?
This crap disgusts me !

Y'know, Taylor, you were schooled on your gross over-generalization bull$#!+ not long ago. In fact, you had to be dragged around the room (by both sides of the aisle) several times before you admitted you were wrong.

Obviously, you need to be taught the lesson again.

Holy crap ~!
wtf is WRONG with these politicians? Later down in the article someone notes that the dude NEVER could have gotten the hot blonde chick 20 yrs younger than him before he got his current state legislator job. I'm sick of hearing about power prostitution stories!

I'm beginning to think every elected official needs to have a shadow following them around and taping them 24/7.

Dude is SOOOOO unattractive too ....
what disgusts you? the politician or the publicity?

As opposed to using your wife’s cancer for sympathy points in the primaries as you are bedding a campaign worker? Then lying about it after you are caught? Getting someone else to say the kid is theirs?

Yup, Hart challenging the press, and getting caught is the lowest.... :doh

Never thought I'd see the day where you would defend a democrat

Any politician who talks about being family values and all moral and criticizing an opponent for something while doing it himself deserves ridicule. Edwards, Hart, Gingrich, Foley, Mahoney. Each of these guys acted holier than thou and got dragged down.

I hope everyone knows my position on this. We should always be critical of the politicians representing us. If the left won't admit to hypocrisy on their side (and I haven't said you won't) Blagojevich is a prime example. His campaign was immensely morally grounded and he denied, denied, and denied for a ridiculous amount of time.

All I'll say is "Practice what you preach" :doh

Of course. I don't think you will find anything to debate on that point ever. But how often do politicians say one thing and do another? I think we all know the answer to that. The problem is the people doing them favors on the one side (lobbyists, special interest groups), and the constituents on the other. Obviously the two groups don't always agree to say the least. This is why I would never go into politics.

When did I admit I was wrong? I retracted a post I made referencing Captain Courageous - that's it.
