I don't know about other states, but in Texas, the crazies are coming out of the woodwork during the health care debate.

Larry Kilgore, a Christian activist that the Texas Observer says has advocated execution for homosexuals, "drew some murmurs of disapproval" when he told the crowd: “I hate that flag up there. ... I hate the United States government. … They’re an evil, corrupt government. They need to go. Sovereignty is not good enough. Secession is what we need!”

At least he drew some murmurs of disapproval, but why was he invited to speak in the first place? Well, never mind that. To him, I say "America, love it or leave it".

Finally, when one wears his Christianity on his sleeve, there always seems to be some motive, such as wanting to execute gays. That, of course, is not Jesus, but Satan working in his life.

His tongue is offensive, it needs to be plucked out...
We can't let Texas go, they have most of the refineries.
and Texas needs the rest of the USA as well. If it wasn't for immigrants from other states, and Mexico, the averge IQ of Texas would be slip sliding away....

There will always be crazies on both sides of an issue, however, I was pleased to at least read this:

As the Texas Observer notes, no prominent Texas politicians showed up to the event, not even the 70 or so members of the state legislature who supported a declaration (PDF) earlier this year affirming the sovereignty of Texas over its own constitutional affairs.

I say sell the place to Iran.. same mentality so why not!!

It is possible that the crazy could be a plant ment to make the Secessionists look like crazies.

Just like Bush was a liberal plant to crush the Republican party?

Or, that PBO is a Conservative plant to destroy the Democrats?

We should sell Texas to Mexico.

I wonder if Cindy Sheehan blocks off her entry line to make it look like no one wants to visit her.?

Is this the liberals? I know that they don't like america as much as regular people.

Yes, I am a America hating, terrorist loving, spit on vets liberal. We so hate our country...

That is sick and not EVEN funny.

And it is highly inaccurate, just like you saying that liberals don't love their country as much as "regular people".

I think there may have been some sarcasm there in Redress's post.

Oh, and welcome to DP. You get bonus points here for guessing Redress's gender.

Thanks!

I'll stay out of the gender talk tho :)

Too confusing these days, and besides, it's really about the issues!
One girl at my school was trying to explain how her sex was female but her gender was male.

Oddly enough, your conservative friends find self-confessed terrorists to be worthy of praise.

Video: Republican Representative Wally Herger supports a self-proclaimed terrorist at a town hall

In the video below of the town hall meeting or Representative Wally Herger (R-CA) a man stands up and proclaims he is a proud "right-wing terrorist" as part of his opposition to health care reform. Many in the town hall then loudly cheer on the man for they view as a bold and truthful statement.

Representative Wally Herger chose to score easy political points and praise the self-proclaimed terrorist... During the Bush years if anyone had openly declared himself a "left-wing terrorist" they would have immediately been condemned by Fox News and possibly even been visited by the FBI. However, when someone announces they are a "right-wing" terrorists it receives rave reviews from conservatives.

*snip*

I know that in his defense some will say the man was just joking and poking fun at earlier reports from the Obama administration about a threat from right wing terrorists... If Keith Olbermann "joked" about being a left-wing terrorist would conservatives really simply laugh it off?

Why is my statement wrong? It's liberals who snivel at people who are outwardly patriotic. And it's liberals that are always obsessed with changing the country -- i.e. it's not good the way it is. It's liberals that are embarrassed about our country and apologize for it.

I have no doubt that if I were to submit a "how much do you love your country" survey (say scale 1 to 10)... liberals would score lower.

And I have no doubt that you have rocks in your head. Because, y'know, all conservatives do.

Right wing terrorist = go to town hall and speak your mind

Left wing terrorist (the kind Obama supports) = bomb government buildings, plan to bomb a bunch of policemen but instead blow yourselves up because you smoked too much weed. Go into hiding for years, get out on a technicality, then become a professor and stomp on your flag for a photo op.

Have any other battles you would like to lose?

Was there a point in there somewhere, or is that your version of waxing philosophic?

You are making a broad generalization based on nothing more than your unsubstantiated opinion. Note that I am a vet, I love my country as least as much as you and am proud that I chose to serve the US in the military, am devoutly patriotic. Now how do I figure into your world view?
