In an appearance August 18 on WLS radio in Chicago, ABC News anchor Charles Gibson was asked about anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan's plans to travel to Martha's Vineyard next week, where she will protest the Iraq and Afghanistan wars while President Obama is vacationing there. Gibson, whose newscast and network featured Sheehan when she led anti-war protests outside President Bush's Texas ranch in 2005, answered, "Enough already."
That's a remarkably different stance from the one Gibson took four years ago. On August 9, 2005, the ABC anchor conducted an extensive on-air interview with Sheehan. "Cindy Sheehan is her name," Gibson began. "She says she's not moving until the president meets with her, and I had a chance to speak with her a few minutes ago. Cindy Sheehan, bottom line, what do you hope to accomplish with all this?" During the next week, Gibson and ABC continued to cover Sheehan. On August 17, 2005, when Sheehan left Crawford, Gibson reported, "We're going to turn next to the standoff that is playing out near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Cindy Sheehan, you know, the mother who lost a son in Iraq, is now on the move, but she's still standing her ground. ABC's Geoff Morrell is in Crawford with the details…" The next day, Gibson reported, "All across the country last night, people held candlelight vigils in support of Cindy Sheehan…" Sheehan was mentioned in several other ABC newscasts, as well.

And under the bus goes Cindy...

Shouldnt you be happy about this?

I'm not happy the woman has been sold out by those she started out being a spokeswoman for, but I am not surprised by the alacrity and glee with which the left cannibalizes one of their own.

The woman who was reviled and called every name in the book by the far-right has not been "sold out" by anybody nor "cannibalized" by anyone except the press.

Out of the millions of protestors and thousands of Gold Star parents, the media chose to single her out. Instead of interviewing others and getting their own stories, the MSM did what it does best, focus on one aspect or person and pile on. And of the course the right-wing media did the same, using her as the "moonbat" face of the antiwar movement.

I'm sure she is more than welcome at any war protest or peace vigil anywhere.

More hyperbole. You conservatives seem to excel in it.

Yep, she's always been "one of our own." I bet you're a big fan of Michael Savage because you're a Republican, right? :roll:

I don't think anyone on Planet Earth has had much respect for Cindy Sheehan except for maybe the first few months that she had the spotlight, before it became obvious how extreme she was.

I think you would find that a large portion, I suspect a majority even, of liberals never much cared for her. Protesting the war is one thing, but the way she went about it was another thing entirely.

Why should I be happy:confused::confused:

A liberal woman who destroyed her son's memory by using him as a tool to further the anti-Iraq war movement. Who in turn was only given the national spotlight by the media, now that same media has kicked her to the curb. I would think you would be happy to see the left eat their own.

I'm sad to see a woman, whose grief was used to further a political goal, now being kicked to the curb by those same people that no longer need her for political gain, thus making a mockery of her grief and pain.

Sheehan is in my mind, a tragic figure used, now abused, and she doesn't even realize it.

Yep. Once the anti-war handlers got ahold of her (and I have encountered one of them at another site -- a real self-promoter), instead of just talking about her son and the war, she just minicked the whole uber-left spiel that blames Israel for pretty much everything in the world.

She is not the brightest bulb in the marquee.
